It can’t just be me???

Argh! So we have my DH’s family coming over tomorrow, which is lovely. I’ve bought them all presents (from my DH, me & our three children) and wrapped them, with zero input from DH. (Have told him what we’ve got them but not sure he’d remember.) The ONLY thing I asked him to do was get his brother a bottle of wine. (He and his brother like wine; I don’t drink it so have no idea where to even start.) Literally five minutes ago, DH asked where I’d put the wine for his brother. Nowhere, I said, you were meant to be doing that. So, it turns out we’ve got no wine to give to my BIL tomorrow. But he’ll be expecting some, said DH.
Grounds for divorce, right??
Obviously I’m joking, but really??? I just wanted to vent. I love Christmas and buying all the bits and the rest of it — but sometimes, much as I love him, I could easily strangle my DH…
Merry Christmas everyone!

Wife work innit

Youre supposed to do everything, that way if it anything goes wrong, it’s your fault.

It won’t be his fault his brother has no wine tomorrow. It will be yours

What a prick. Have you got a bottle of anything lying around you can gift instead?

DuplicateUserName · 24/12/2022 22:32

He'll have to go out and get some in the morning and trust the local corner shop (if you have one) has decent wine.

If not, tell your BIL why he doesn't have a present.

Stompythedinosaur · 25/12/2022 01:52

I wouldn't find this as funny as you are. I hope he is ashamed of himself! Maybe time to stop sorting presents for any of his family.

Useless man, expecting "wifey" to carry the whole load at Christmas.

Luckily where I live (not UK) the supermarkets are open their normal times 08.00 - 22.00 - so it wouldn't be a problem.

The forgetting to buy the wine I'd fine mildly irritating. He had ONE job, etc., etc. It's the "But he'll be expecting wine..." reaction that would tip me over the edge. Yes, too bad you forgot, then, isn't it!

Woeman · 25/12/2022 02:53

We buy for our own families and always have. You don't need a vagina to buy presents.

Unifolorn · 25/12/2022 03:04

Why doesn't he buy for his side of the family? Let me guess you sort out the rest of Christmas too? Even if you love it its so unattractive he couldn't even be bothered to buy one thing. Ew.
