We do stockings from santa ive just came to bed filled her stocking up and she's bloody seen me mummy what are you doing with my stocking. I quickly said just checking if his been yet . I've emptied it again and waiting for her to settle back to sleep. I've been in again though and she said mummy why are you moving my stocking. I need some tactile tips!!! How long do I give it to attempt a 3rd try

Isn't it funny how people do different things? I wouldn't want stockings on the end of beds as I want to see their faces when they see what's in them!

The entire point of a stocking imo is to give you an extra 10 (5) minutes peace 😆. There's nothing particularly special in ours to need to see their reaction but things they can eat without disturbing me, things like fidget toys they can play with for a little while , gloves, socks etc

Do you have a spare stocking you could use? Santa doesn't go in children's rooms if he he thinks they're still awake. Just leave it in front of bedroom door.

10:30 was waaaaaayyy too early! Even when mine were as little as yours I wouldn’t have attempted it until at least midnight.
Thankfully they are all much older now and happy to leave them downstairs by the fireplace. Eldest dd1 has just helped me sort the tree presents out and she filled her siblings stockings 😂

She surely knows you were going to do her a stocking if that is the usual thing. Don't worry, she doesn't know the contents! I don't see it as a big deal, your daughter is eight.

If Father Christmas brings the presents, why would she think her Mum would be doing it? 8 is still so young!

Your children are all so brave. Mine are so scared at the thought of someone lurking around their room. We have to reassure that santa definitely doesn't come upstairs and we had to write a note to the elf asking him to stay downstairs too! Works in our favour though I suppose!

Confused

I'd go to bed, set an alarm for silly o'clock, quickly sort the stocking and get back to bed.

I get what people are saying about stockings downstairs but there's nothing better than waking up and feeling that full stocking at the end of the bed Xmas Smile Def duplicates next year tho!

Yep. I set my alarm for 2 o'clock. I normally wake up then anyway isn't insomnia fun?! but then couldn't figure out why I was awake! Filled the stocking, ate the mince pie, his the carrots and drank the drink. The noticed DS had written FC a letter so wrote him a little note back. And now I'm still sodding awake. It's going to be a long day ...

@sanityisamyth I've just got into bed. Manic night but stocking are filled. Presents under their tree and sacks in front of the fireplace! My DH has added the elves into the mix too!

I hope you finally managed to complete operation stocking.
I've always left Stockings downstairs as I found it easier but yesterday my 12 year old asked if they could have Stockings upstairs this year 🙄that was a firm no.
