Local to me, a small, family run butchers has gone bust
Looks like they knew they were going under but still happily taking people's payments for their saving scheme for Christmas meat - right up until a day before the shutters went down. People have been left with nothing, with the shop not responding to anyone.
This is a small, deprived ex-mining community. People don't have a lot, but understandably are very worried about people not having anything for their Christmas dinner so have stepped up and arranged (in just over 24 hours!) a mass donation effort, a hall to receive and give out donated items, as well as a local food bank charity stepping in to help as well. A local supermarket have offered discounted meat products.
There's no real point to my thread, other than to say how proud I am of my ex-hometown, how much I am missing it right now, and if anyone on here is from the village, I wish you all peace and happiness (and meat!)
