Think this chicken will be better than turkey?

Right so kids are coming Boxing Day for Xmas dinner. There's only 3 of us .

I bought a chicken crown- now it's a Tesco finest corn fed free range chicken crown with bacon on and stuffed with a lovely sounding stuffing. However - in my fug I thought it was £6.50 .

I wasn't - it was £14 !

I could have got a turkey stuffed joint for that .

However- I'm thinking it's a quality Chuck so might actually be nicer ?
Verdicts please ?

Nicer!!!

DiaDeLluvia · 23/12/2022 04:48

All chicken is nicer than turkey! If turkey was actually nice we’d eat it all year

stillvicarinatutu · 23/12/2022 04:51

Yeah I figured for that price it should've bloody amazing! Fingers crossed.

I always get chicken for Christmas, I prefer it to turkey, which always seems too dry. It is a bit cheaper and to be honest quite a few people don't know the difference. It will be great..

It looks very nice and it's free range so I feel less guilty!

You have for a free range bird whereas for that price you wouldn’t have got a free range turkey so that’s already going to be far nicer than a factor farmed turkey. It sounds delicious to me, we always have chicken and it’s always SO much nicer.

Enjoy!

It's a finest corn fed free range Chuck so I reckon it will taste nicer than a processed joint 👍

Turkey is disgusting and even my cats refuse to eat cheap chicken. I dont eat meat myself but if I did I'd only eat it once a week and eat real quality stuff like this OP.
If even my animals who eat rats refuse to eat cheap meat then it isn't fit to be eaten.

Passthecake30 · 23/12/2022 06:41

it’ll be so much nicer!

My SIL who usually hosts us always does chicken and it’s fab. Yours sounds delicious. I personally love turkey and seek it out year-round for sandwiches but I think I’m in the minority (it can be hard to find!)

ive had tastier juicer Asda chickens in a bag for a fiver than a fresh turkey from the butcher, nice life etc costing ££££s
Great choice

Spanielsarepainless · 23/12/2022 07:06

You are right. Chicken is tastier than turkey. DH likes turkey at Christmas so we have a rolled breast this year, but next year I call the shots!

stillvicarinatutu · 23/12/2022 07:11

It seemed blardy expensive for a chicken crown but on reflection I think I've made the right choice!
