Christmas Mass? Christmas Day services?

Do you go to Christmas Mass? We do every year, I always feel when we leave the church, Christmas has officially begun.
I have never been on Christmas Day since I was a child, but thinking of going this year. My teenagers will still be in bed if I don't get them up and DP won't want to go. Would it look strange to go alone?

Of course it won't look strange to go to church alone.
I always go. Mind you, I have to, as I am the organist, but I would go anyway.

I love Christmas services.

Thanks. I worried I would look like Billy No Mates. Mass is full of families like mine and anyone without family seems to know lots of people at the church. But I think I will go.

We always go to church Christmas day. When I was a young adult I did prefer a midnight communion Christmas eve but switched to Christmas day now. If your teens are still asleep then I think its the perfect opportunity to have a bit of time for you to reflect and feel into the swing of things on Christmas day.
Nobody will look at you funny for going on your own.

I usually go to Midnight Mass alone now that DC are old enough to be left.

Christmas Day is one of the only days DS2 comes to Church, so the 3 of us plus my mum go.

Sorry forgot to say, there are plenty of people who come alone on Christmas Day.

You might feel uncomfortable on Christmas morning with all the families and kissy-kissy, although would be most welcome.

Does your church have a midnight communion? You are more likely to find solo people there.

Used to every year, 2 years break due to covid and moving, think I might go this year, love midnight mass

Blackcountryexile · 22/12/2022 17:40

I always go by myself as do others and feel welcome.
Please don't be put off if you would like to go.

@CraftyGin As a family we go to midnight mass. It is always full of families. That is what I was worried about on Christmas morning.

I’m looking to go to a crib service on Christmas Eve this year. But when I’ve been on Christmas Day there’s lots of people who have come on their own. It’s a lovely community spirit!
