Did mine today mid morning. There were mountains of food (including whole shelves of fresh turkeys), it was not particularly busy (it’s busier on an ordinary Saturday) and everything was dated post Christmas. Only thing they were out of was spaghetti, bizarrely. They were already heavily discounting wrapping paper, cards and decorations. It was almost a pleasant experience.

I'm going to M&S Foods tomorrow to get mine. They are open from 6am, I'm going to go at about 7.30 and it out the way.

Greensleevevssnotnose · 21/12/2022 22:04

My order arrived Christmas Eve but if anything is missing it's tough not going to the shop no way. We have plenty of frozen and tinned food so will manage

SliceOfCakeCupOfTea · 21/12/2022 22:07

Tomorrow for us.

At the shop this evening noticed all the turkeys went out of date on Xmas Eve so I do worry about fresh stuff

Solmum1964 · 21/12/2022 22:30

Not cooking Christmas dinner this year but have bought cake, Christmas pudding, brandy butter and sauce plus other items over the last few weeks as they've come into store.
Wanted to get a Yule log on Monday but all dated 27th, so left that. Did pick up another box of mince pies, though.
If Christmas plans get cancelled at short notice, I do have a turkey crown in the freezer, bought last year in case plans had to change and found a smaller Christmas pudding in the cupboard when I was putting the new one away!

Both! Asda delivery coming tomorrow and Sainsburys on Friday. Went through everything and bought from whichever supermarket was cheaper! Plus if something doesn't come in the Asda shop I've time to add it to Sainsburys and if there's anything we still need, someone can be despatched to get it.

Did mine today. There were a couple of things I couldn't get & others I forgot so will be back there on Friday 🙄

terriblemustard · 21/12/2022 22:40

I did mine today and everything had long dates on. Glad it's out of the way! The supermarket was very quiet.

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 21/12/2022 22:45

Shopped today for final bits. Don't have fridge space for enough milk, so will get extra from a small local shop later in the week.
I bought some part baked multi seed sourdough baguettes, appreciate not the same as fresh ones but will do for a Boxing Day buffet

Newwardrobe · 21/12/2022 22:48

Fellow ditherer here 😩 I have sort of , possibly, maybe decided to go late tomorrow .

TidyDancer · 21/12/2022 22:48

Mine is being delivered by Sainsbury’s tomorrow evening. Gives us enough time to pop to a shop Friday if necessary but hoping not to (will only go if something important doesn't get delivered!).

good96 · 21/12/2022 22:58

Last year I went at 4am on Christmas Eve - Tesco was relatively busy for that time of day but quiet enough to be able to shop and get everything I needed.
Planning to go late Friday night / early Saturday morning. Collecting the turkey and meats from butcher on Sat morning.

Rainbowshit · 21/12/2022 22:59

Did mine today.

BooksAndHooks · 21/12/2022 22:59

Delivery tomorrow so we can get anything that’s missing on 23rd. Don’t want to be near shops on Christmas Eve.

beatsin8s · 21/12/2022 23:12

It'll be Friday for me as no money before then. I did get a large chicken though for less than £2 (there will only be 2 of us) as it was use by date so I've just popped it in the freezer to defrost Christmas Eve! Only thing I'm concerned about is pigs in blankets being out of stock by the time I go although could probably assemble my own. And Yorkshire puddings but that's only because I'm too lazy to make them myself!

Smartiepants79 · 21/12/2022 23:14

Also did mine this morning. First shop was basically empty. Brilliant.
Didn’t notice anything that was unavailable and everything had a use by date past the 26th of December.

Pigriver · 21/12/2022 23:18

Did a click and collect for this evening, 18 items missing and a queue of an hour to receive my order! No eggs 😳 and the lobbed 18 cans of beer on top of my bread 😡 were hosting 23/24 so wanted everything done by tomorrow lunch.

Trez1510 · 22/12/2022 00:12

Delivery early on 23rd, have marked everything can be substituted. Depending on what's delivered with despatch my partner to pick up any necessary missing items.

Have done the same for my aunt, early on 23rd, and my cousin will pick up any necessary stuff that's missing later that day.

Trez1510 · 22/12/2022 00:13

~~ with despatch = will despatch

aziza21 · 22/12/2022 00:46

Have to get more mince pies. Somehow managed to nearly eat the lot before festivities really kick off.....
