Frozen pastries Christmas morning

For those who buy the frozen pastries for Christmas morning - where do you buy them? I've seen some in M&S but won't get to one between now and Christmas Day.

Are they all pretty similar or some better than others? We have an Asda, Tesco and Morrisons close by.

I don't buy frozen but I do go to Lidl Christmas eve and buy their fresh pastries. They are lovely! And totally fine to keep for the next morning.

We normally have the Tesco's ones which are fine. Haven't tried asda or Morrisons I'm afraid.

We have a new lidl close by. I'd not thought of this! I always buy their bakery stuff too!

Morrison's sell them but the range is a bit limited. I think pain an chocolat, cinnamon swirls and maybe mini maple and pecan plaits. And croissants of course!

Tinytigertail · 20/12/2022 16:13

Pret frozen pan au chocolate from Tesco are really good!

EyeSpyPlumPie · 20/12/2022 16:16

We get the Morrisons ones and they’re fine. Croissants, pain au chocolat, pain au raisin, cinnamon rolls & maple and pecan danish.

tealandteal · 20/12/2022 16:18

I usually buy the frozen ones from Tesco for birthdays etc or if freezer space is limited the ones in the can that you rollout and bake as they take up a very small amount of room in the fridge.

melissasummerfield · 20/12/2022 16:18

Tesco have loads of different ones and they are all lovely 🙂

Can’t say on pasties but all my Christmas stuff apart from cheese pate is frozen. Nothing wrong with that hope you find some nice ones.

slipperypenguin · 20/12/2022 16:30

The prey ones from Tesco

slipperypenguin · 20/12/2022 16:30

I love frozen pastries and have a selection for over the holidays.

My top tip is to cook them on a pizza tray, they seem to cook far better that way and then aren't doughy in the middle

snowgal · 20/12/2022 16:42

I agree with the comments about Pret ones. We've had them from most supermarkets and they are way superior!

yoshiblue · 20/12/2022 16:46

Iceland are great for frozen crossaints/pan au chocolat. I think they do danish whirls too.

Way cheaper than M&S and just as good.

Wiloswisp · 20/12/2022 16:47

I’ve got the JusRol chilled ones, admittedly they aren’t as nice as fresh but I’ve got them in as a standby just in case the fresh don’t come with my online order.

babyjellyfish · 20/12/2022 17:00

Get the Picard branded ones from Ocado.

babyjellyfish · 20/12/2022 17:01

I live in France and the Picard croissants and pain au chocolat come pretty close to the stuff you can buy fresh in the bakeries here.

Moonpies · 20/12/2022 17:03

Waitrose or Picard ones are very good!

terriblemustard · 20/12/2022 17:07

Thanks everyone, i have just seen the pret ones online so might see if they have some in our big Tesco!

We've had frozen pain au chocolat from Waitrose before for Xmas breakfast and they were good.

AriettyHomily · 20/12/2022 17:34

Picard, we also use the chilled ones in cans.

unfortunateevents · 20/12/2022 17:58

We regularly use M&S or Tesco frozen pastries in our house on Sundays and both are very good.

The Pret A Manger range which is also stocked at Tesco is yummy too.

pinkfondu · 20/12/2022 18:35

Frozen pret choc filled croissant from Sainsbury’s
