Do you wrap stocking fillers?

I normally do wrap them but not sure I can be bothered this year so was curious what other people do.

I think part of it is also that we’ve done a mix of little fun gifts & practical gifts for the kids (1 & 6). I think the 6 yr old would be a bit disappointed to unwrap mouthwash 😂

I wrap.

mam0918 · 19/12/2022 12:44

nope... stocking IS the wrapping

user1474315215 · 19/12/2022 12:44

Always wrap them - half the fun is tearing the paper off.

CornishGem1975 · 19/12/2022 12:45

Yes, because it slows the present-unwrapping process down!

bigbluebus · 19/12/2022 12:46

At that age yes, because it kept them occupied for a decent amount of time unwrapping them all as it was usually an early morning start! I could then lie in bed a bit longer feigning surprise as each gift was unwrapped.

HavfrueDenizKisi · 19/12/2022 12:47

I wrap. Except edibles.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 19/12/2022 12:50

Yes. It’s all wrapped in Santa’s paper! This isn’t anything particularly special, just different paper from the rest of their presents and usually with a Santa design. Last year it was HoHoHo paper from Tesco!

Wrap or at least wrap up in newspaper without sticking.
Though I might open up the packet of socks and put a thing in each sock

Blenheimprincess · 19/12/2022 12:52

Yes we do, except for chocolates which go in unwrapped

SellFridges · 19/12/2022 12:53

Some I do, some I don’t. Mostly sweets and things will be unwrapped, small gifts wrapped.

Snap. Waste of paper.

TheYummyPatler · 19/12/2022 12:55

I wrap.

FKATondelayo · 19/12/2022 12:55

Yes. With stockings, the wrapping is more important than the gift and 'practical' presents like mouthwash becoming even more magical with the anticipation and the guessing. A mix of fun and practical, silly and necessary - ALL WRAPPED - is the secret of a great stocking.

When I am Prime Minister wrapping stocking presents will be incorporated into the Children's Act.

RagzRebooted · 19/12/2022 12:56

Yes, everything except the coins and chocolate orange is wrapped. It has to be heavy and rustly or it isn't a stocking!

I have 3 to wrap and it's a PITA, but I spread it over a week or two. Mine are 12-16 and they still bring their stockings into my bedroom and unwrap them while I watch. It brings us all joy.

justasking111 · 19/12/2022 12:57

Always, including sweets

Haha.

I think the wrapping makes the stocking more fun. DS2 called it sock roulette last year. Will this small package be chocolate or socks?

just pulling things out of an oversized sock seems less fun to me. My mum didn’t wrap stocking stuff (or most of the actual presents either). I much prefer doing it my way. So that’s how I do it.

LosingTheWill2022 · 19/12/2022 13:01

I wrap everything except satsuma and chocolate coins

WeDontNeedToTalkAboutJamie · 19/12/2022 13:02

Nope. It's a waste of time and paper.

FKATondelayo · 19/12/2022 13:05

Wrapping stocking presents while drinking wine and watching Die Hard on Xmas Eve is one of life's great pleasures.

123woop · 19/12/2022 13:06

Always wrap - I used to do fancy with ribbons but no longer 😂

mynameisnotkate · 19/12/2022 13:09

Yes, always wrap everything. It’s the excitement of unwrapping that’s the best thing, even now DC are teens. We collect wrapping paper from the main presents and reuse it for stockings in later years to avoid wasting paper.

Were a bit disorganised, so DH and I always do the wrapping in front of a film on Christmas Eve after the kids have gone to bed (or been shooed away to their bedrooms these days …)

littlemissalwaystired · 19/12/2022 13:11

They have to be wrapped! I do use recyclable paper and tape thoughSmile

Miriam101 · 19/12/2022 13:13

Wrap the more interesting bits. Can't be fecked wrapping a tangerine!

MsSquiz · 19/12/2022 13:15

I wrap because then it takes more time to empty the stocking

ouch44 · 19/12/2022 13:18

I do but this year I am going to be putting them in paper Xmas sweet bags. Got this idea off here and it's genius!!
