Do you wrap stocking fillers?

I normally do wrap them but not sure I can be bothered this year so was curious what other people do.

I think part of it is also that we’ve done a mix of little fun gifts & practical gifts for the kids (1 & 6). I think the 6 yr old would be a bit disappointed to unwrap mouthwash 😂

Yes, but in different paper to anything else, as it's from Father Christmas!

ohsotired2022 · 19/12/2022 14:28

Yep, we do 6 gifts in each stocking, all wrapped and then cholesterol coins, apple and orange and a £1 coin.
My DD (8) said the stockings are one of her favourite parts of Christmas morning!

ohsotired2022 · 19/12/2022 14:28

Ha ha ha
Chocolate !

Yesthatismychildsigh · 19/12/2022 14:29

Yes, I used to. With extra sellotape. Bought a bit extra time in bed.

Daisy03 · 19/12/2022 14:29

Yes because stockings are opened in bed at whatever early hour they wake up, so lots of tiny well wrapped gifts give me longer to compose myself

HeyMicky · 19/12/2022 14:31

A mix. Sweets and chocolates not wrapped, same for indoor fireworks this year (thanks DH 🙄) and a Xmas face mask and a bath bomb. Other stocking presents are wrapped, all in a gaudy cheap paper mummy would never use Wink

CatChant · 19/12/2022 14:32

No, never. The stocking is the wrapping.

NegroniLover · 19/12/2022 14:33

nope, not wrapped here. Mine were never wrapped when I was a kid and dh never had a stocking so we do things my way.
Dc is a teen now but we've never wrapped. And they never once 'tipped' the contents out either. They LOVE putting their hand down into the stocking and picking out each thing, and they also look at each thing and sometimes open it (perfume etc) before moving into the next item.
I do a stocking for dh and he does one for me and we don't wrap those either.
Santa never wrapped his presents either - the only wrapped presents here at the under the tree ones...

soggydigestives · 19/12/2022 14:39

Yes you have to wrap everything it's part of the fun trying to guess what things are. Only thing I don't wrap is the Clementine at the bottom

newrubylane · 19/12/2022 14:41

I didn't last year. This year I'm leaving it till later and I'll see how I'm doing/whether I can be arsed!

TwoRockSalmonAndAHaporthOfChips · 19/12/2022 14:44

Yes! As a child of the 70s, ours were always wrapped in this brilliant, thin, rustly paper from the newsagents, which gave the characteristic sound of the stocking! It also means the stocking opening takes longer, which I gather parents find useful 😁

Do you wrap stocking fillers?
Notanotherone6 · 19/12/2022 14:59

Not a fucking chance. 5 kids with about 30 small stocking items each is not my idea of fun.

upfucked · 19/12/2022 15:00

Yes but in green and red tissue paper it’s much quicker.

Izipizi · 19/12/2022 15:19

I never grew up with wrapped stocking suffers, so it seems bonkers to me. So much work and a huge waste of paper! DH did grow up with it, however, and insists that everything down to the very last satsuma needs to be wrapped. I told him that if it’s that important to him, he needs to do the wrapping himself and clean up the chaos afterwards.

WilsonMilson · 19/12/2022 15:20

When I was a child, all the Santa gifts were unwrapped, but I’ve always wrapped them as it slows things down a bit and makes some cheap stuff seem a bit more special. DS is really too old now, he’s almost an adult, but still gets Santa presents in his stocking as a bit of a laugh. I’ll still be doing this when he’s 25 at this rate - I don’t really want to stop!!

SkankingWombat · 19/12/2022 15:22

Bumply · 19/12/2022 13:31

Always wrapped them.
Two sons both got the same things (4 years age difference)
If one was quicker tipping everything out that would spoil the surprise for both of them

You need proper knitted stockings: no tipping possible with those! It's actually a bit of a mission to retrieve the last few items from the very bottom, especially if they have corners!

OrangeCinnamonLatte · 19/12/2022 15:33

Tissue paper wrapping...I got the idea from here about 14 years ago I think. Doesn't take as long to wrap but delays the unwrapping process...

TellMeWhere · 19/12/2022 15:42

Wrap everything except chocolate coins. But DH is in charge this year and I'm not there, so wouldn't be surprised if nothing is wrapped.

I usually start shopping early and wrap as I go so it's less painful.

MenaiMna · 19/12/2022 15:43

Tissue paper, minimal tape

CardiffMam · 19/12/2022 15:45

I don't wrap any of Father Christmas' presents. Waste of wrapping paper and time to wrap them all.

Nchangeagain · 19/12/2022 15:53

We wrap (always have done) and we use different paper for stocking and the other Fr Christmas's gifts than we do for our own. Adds to the magic, I think.

BeanCounterBabe · 19/12/2022 15:59

Always wrap using different paper. Tissue paper is quick to wrap wrap and gives a satisfying rustle. We use pillowcases instead of oversize stockings so they need to wrapped. Was worth it for the extra time in bed when they were small.

LBOCS2 · 19/12/2022 16:00

Nope. I do 4 stockings and I would lose the will to live if I wrapped everything that goes into them!

angela99999 · 19/12/2022 16:23

I wrap and tie very securely with ribbon to slow the children down a little. Otherwise they can empty a stocking in less than a minute.

angela99999 · 19/12/2022 16:25

And I was still doing it until my first GC arrived, when the youngest DD was in her mid-twenties!
