Chocolate fridge cake, use a fork to spike the edges and dust eith icing sugar so it looks like a snow - covered log. Serve with pouring cream or whipped cream.

Choc fondants. Basically the same mix as brownies.
Make in advance in dariole moulds and stick in freezer.

You will need to do a practice run to work out cooking time from frozen to ensure they don't over cook.

Yule log
Ice cream bombe with layers of different fruity/nutty alcohol ice creams served with a hot chocolate sauce
Tarte au chocolat (basically ganache in a pastry case)
Mississippi mud pie

Delia’s chocolate truffle torte.
very very rich so not suitable for some, can be made a few days in advance.
Also freezes well.

ooh I have just sent a recipe for baileys chocolate pots which looks dead easy

Serves 6
6 chocolate hobnobs
2 crunchie bars
300ml double cream
300g dark chocolate
2 flakes
double shot of baileys

roughly crush the biscuits and crunchy and spoon into ramekin/glass. press down gently.
melt chocolate, and set aside to cool slightly
Add baileys to cream and whisk to soft peaks, add chocolate and whisk to combine. Spoon into ramekin over the crushed biscuits, chill in the fridge and serve with flake crumbled over the top.

Mary Berry Ultimate chocolate roulade. So delicious.

NewToWoo · 19/12/2022 00:10

Yes, Mary Berry chocolate roulade. It's a tiny bit fiddly but if I can make it, anyone can.

I make Nigella’s buche de Noel (recipe online). It’s pretty easy, I’ve never had trouble rolling it and I am fairly unco!

Mary Berry Yule Log

There's a chocolate cranachan recipe on Epicurus . com. There's virtually no cooking involved apart from toasting oats in the oven.

AdaColeman · 19/12/2022 01:23

You can't beat a classic chocolate mousse made with good quality plain chocolate, eggs and double cream.
You can add extras such as a layer of rum or brandy soaked raisins at the bottom of the dish, or a few cherries in kirsch, or a slice of caramelised orange or a sprinkle of gold dust for a garnish.

No skills needed, as long as you can use a whisk!

I make a no-bake chocolate cheesecake. I don't use an official recipe but it seems to come out ok every time. For a cake tin around 18cm line the base and sides with baking paper and use about 6-7 digestive biscuits crushed into crumbs, mix with melted butter and press into the base of tin. Leave to cool. Then about 150g milk chocolate melted very gently into a small tub of double cream, I think this is about 150mls of cream (I use the microwave on low power and keep checking it every 20-30 seconds as it goes grainy if left for too long or on too high a temperature) then mix the cream & chocolate mix into 1 tub of mascarpone and pour on top.of the biscuit base. Flatten as best you can using a palette knife. Sprinkle chocolate curls etc on top. Leave in the fridge to set, this takes several hours. It is so creamy and delicious, quite rich but extremely popular in my house and is requested every Christmas. You can use dark chocolate as well but my DCs find this too rich and prefer milk chocolate. I uy a decent quality milk choc, Lidl/Aldi special selection is pretty good or Lindt, I don't like dairy milk or any of the supermarket basics range

Nigella’s chocolate cloud cake is reliable and delicious. Or for absolute minimum faff you could do Felicity Cloake’s chocolate pots from her ‘how to make the perfect…’ column in the Guardian. I serve it in pretty tea cups with whipped cream on top and a couple of wafers or similar on the saucer if I’m trying to be fancy.

Chocolate mousse for me every time. My mum did one which was literally just dark chocolate melted with a little butter, eggs yolks mixed in when the chocolate mixture is cool enough, and then the whisked egg whites folded through. So rich, and so delicious!

Pick up a cheap supermarket panettone. Sainsbury's do a chocolate one or you use a plain one and jazz it up

Use as the base for a panne tone bread and butter pudding

Walkacrossthesand · 19/12/2022 07:08

How about a chocolate'up and over' pudding - you make a chocolate sponge mix, pour over a cocoa/coffee liquid mixture, and bake for just under an hour. The sponge rises up through the liquid, so when you dig in with serving spoon, there's a yummy gooey mocha mixture underneath the sponge. Used to be the go-to pudding when my DC were young.

Jane's Patisserie website is great for ideas

Ifyoudreamofsanddunes · 19/12/2022 07:16

Google 'Chocolate orange trifle' - it's super easy and delicious. You line a trifle bowl with slices of shop bought chocolate swiss roll, cover in orange jelly, let it set. Add mandarin segments.
Melt chocolate and mix with custard then add. Finish with whipped double cream, more mandarin segments and a crumbled flake

Flowersinamilkbottle · 19/12/2022 07:17

Nigella's chocolate salame. A festive fridge cake, which is sooo easy. Also I use up any nuts or dried fruit I have left over and it always works out well.

LubaLuca · 19/12/2022 07:18

Profiteroles are surprisingly easy to make and have a bit of a wow factor when the hot chocolate sauce is poured over.

nancyglancy · 19/12/2022 07:18

Mary Berry chocolate mousse cake. Really easy.

Jinglealltheway1 · 19/12/2022 07:20

Another vote for a chocolate orange trifle, very easy to make

Look at Taming Twins no bake cheesecakes. Very easy to make ahead, very quick. From memory she has a ferrero rocher one, Oreo, white chocolate and a Bailey's one.
