I fancy making this but I'm not a big fan of Oreos.

Has anyone used anything else for the base?

Another vote for Delia's Chocolate Truffle Torte. I never bother with the liquid glucose and it turns out fine, so only 4 ingredients, no cooking and really easy.

¨Cheaters Yule log" . buy some nice chocolate swiss rolls - smother with chocolate butter icing and make it look "log like" with fork then dust with icing and decorate with a fake robin and or holly

"Pimped chocolate orange fridge cake!

  • bash up ½-1 packet of digestive biscuits
  • stir in 200-250g melted chocolate
  • add a pack 50-100g of chopped candied orange peel or grated rind of large orange
  • optional - 50g chopped glace cherries
  • pack into dish and chill for several hours
  • cut into squares and serve with ice cream or whipped cream

Emergency chocolate dessert

  • chocolate chip cookies - homemade or bought
  • ben and jerry's cookie dough or chocolate fudge bownie ice cream
  • serve ice cream between 2 cookies

Does everything else remain exactly the same? you don’t add any sugar to make up for the lack of glucose?

www.nigella.com/recipes/instant-chocolate-mousse

really easy chocolate mousse made with marshmallows. Look great in little shot glasses.

Guinness cake (Nigella)
Tiffin?

@boobybum
I don't add anything else. I'm not really fond of dark chocolate so I use half milk and half dark so that most probably makes it sweeter.

Sticky chocolate pudding:
follow a basic chocolate sponge recipe
put cake mix in the cake tin
in a bowl mix cocoa and brown sugar
sprinkle this over the cake mix
pour boiling water over until it just covers the mix
Bake for around 20 mins
result is lovely lovely sticky chocolate cake with a thick syrup

Rainbowshit · 21/12/2022 20:36

@GardenIce you could use digestives or gingernuts. Although I'm not an Oreo fan and with the chocolate filing it's really not obvious that the base is made of Oreos.

Another one suggesting Delia's chocolate truffle torte!

Recipe here

Just don't give yourself too big a slice when you serve it, as it's incredibly rich.

Im making a white chocolate cheesecake, no bake so really easy
I always have a shop bought trifle in for emergencies too!

this is rally easy and really nice (and VERY rich, be warned!)

Can this be frozen?
I can't see why not as it's just chocolate, cream, butter, sugar and biscuits.

As long as it's wrapped well
