Where can I get a great choc fudge cake from?

Going to DSIL for Christmas dinner. We have been asked to bring along the dessert (a chocolate fudge cake).

Where can we get a good one from? Looking for something a little bit nicer than the £1 iceland number 😄

Marks and Spencer do the best one.

The Tesco finest one is nice but it's not very large so you might need two depending on how many will be eating it.

Following as I have been requested to provide the same thing!

Marks and Spencer do the best one.

Do I need to order it in advance? Conscious we have missed any pre order collections!

Are you in Booths territory? They do a lovely one from Latham’s. Otherwise try a local bakery, but call ahead and order it.

Costco do a great one

3catsandcounting · 18/12/2022 22:17

Can't help, but one of the few things to make up for our North West weather, is the fact I have Booths to wander through. 🥰

Meredusoleil · 18/12/2022 22:19

Costco. It's huge, very chocolatey and affordable!

NConcemore · 18/12/2022 22:23

Not ready made but Betty Crocker does a Devils Food Cake mix which is fool proof. Use the BC choc fudge icing with it and it's a perfect choc fudge cake

Smartiepants79 · 18/12/2022 22:24

Costco if you’ve got access to one.

Pieceofpurplesky · 18/12/2022 22:25

Another one for Costco!

Waitrose Heston giant cracking penny cake is divine!

Chocolate Cake by Cook

RampantIvy · 18/12/2022 22:41

You could make it instead. Honestly this Mary Berry recipe is unbelievably easy to make, and is just brilliant.

slipperypenguin · 18/12/2022 23:44

Thanks all, have been flirting with a Costco membership for a while and think it may be time!

I'm sorry, but I don't rate Costco cakes at all. They are too sweet and artificial tasting.

IggyAce · 19/12/2022 07:23

Makro do a nice one, shame you’re not in the northeast, we get ours from Bolams. It’s the only dessert my dh eats and he rates theirs highly.

PomRuns · 19/12/2022 07:49

Would Christmas Colin the caterpillar be an option?

FlamingJingleBells · 19/12/2022 07:52

Costco cakes are sickly sweet, very artificial tasting, people like them because they're huge and cheap. The chocolate cake from Cook is much better and you can taste the actual real chocolate.

Thecatisboss · 19/12/2022 07:55

I made the Mary Berry recipe at the weekend for a birthday cake with Betty Crocker chocolate fudge icing which tasted delicious and was really easy to make.

Chris Evans was reading out a taste test of Yule logs on his radio show last week, and the Morrison's choc fudge Yule log came out too.

Should read "came out top".

Betty crocker chocolate fudge cake mix is delicious and fool proof. Not overly sweet either.

OnceAgainWithFeeling · 19/12/2022 08:01

If you’re up to making one the Nigella one is easy and delicious.
