We'll probably get a couple of steaks ... any suggestions?
Is there anything else we could get, steak knife?
Any suggestions welcome.

A cast iron pan?

PestorPeston · 18/12/2022 16:48

Seconding the cast iron pan

Sevenofdiamonds · 18/12/2022 16:48

Pink peppercorns

Itisbetter · 18/12/2022 16:48

A really good cast iron pan, grain mustard, horseradish, a a meat thermometer if they’re new to cooking, a wooden board and metal cover for resting the steak. Washing up equipment for decoration🙃

DireBetes · 18/12/2022 16:49

A meat thermometer!

GardenIce · 18/12/2022 16:51

Any particular cast iron pan people would recommend?

Laguiole steak knives?

Inextremis · 18/12/2022 16:53

The one I have (cast iron pan, that is) came from Amazon in a set of three - no particular make, just standard heavyweight cast iron. I've had it for about 5 years now - can't imagine that any other cast iron pan would be better, really.

PestorPeston · 18/12/2022 16:53

Something a bit industrial, with integral metal handle so it can go in the oven. Along these lines. www.nisbets.co.uk/vogue-round-cast-iron-skillet-pan-255mm/m655

Le Creuset or Staub.

A meat thermometer!

For steak? Totally unnecessary!

Friendofdennis · 18/12/2022 16:56

The Ginger Pig cookery book is good

Itisbetter · 18/12/2022 18:00

@AreOttersJustWetCats depends if you are a confident cook or not. A thermometer can teach you exactly how a large steak is cooking. If you only cook skinny minute steaks less helpful.

Beyondshit · 18/12/2022 18:13

Less for the steak but for cooking in general - a Global knife. Utility or chef

DreamingOfAGreenChristmas · 18/12/2022 18:16

A good pepper grinder

BCBird · 18/12/2022 18:17

This could work very much to your advantage🤣

SaturdayGiraffe · 18/12/2022 18:18

Wagyu, yum

A good pepper grinder

I have got through so many pepper grinders over the decades, at every price point. My advice would be Aldi ready filled grinder pots, will last half a dozen refills.
OR
Fancy pepper corns and a mortar and pestle. 💝

Itisbetter · 18/12/2022 19:52

As for the steak a tomahawk looks impressive
