Can I please ask what you are buying your 5/6 yo girls? My dd just turned 5, but 6 yo stuff might suit her too. So far I've only got her lego, and a marble run 😳. Any other gift ideas please ? Tia

Easy “chapter books” are usually good for that age too as they feel very grown up. Probably ones you could read to her first and then she’ll be able to read herself later. The worst witch, the owl who was afraid of the dark, flat Stanley…..

A book
Some pajamas

What you have is enough though. Don't think it has to be about masses of presents. Do you do a seperate stocking with little bits in? That can be quite fun - so pens and stationary and a chocolate or two.

You really don't need to feel you haven't got enough though, not unless there's another child in the family who has more.

Thank you all so much for replying. They are all great ideas. Never heard of the sky dancer - I am sure my dd would love this. I've just ordered one and a barbie malibu play set. She loves playing with the doll house at grandma's (my in-laws) but as we'll be going low contact (thats a whole new thread 🙄), it'll be great for her to have one at home. Last year I got her sylvanian families stuff, she didnt quite get into it 🤦🏻‍♀️. Ive had to put it away, I am hoping she'll get into it later. She's already got a lot of crafty stuff , so I am not going to get her anymore just yet, but I've also got her a chapter book, which I think is a great idea, i'll see how she gets on with it. She's asked for a barbie doll so I'll be getting her that too. Also, ive ordered her a baby buggy because she's been asking for one since the one she had was shite and had to be thrown away. I think I will be getting her a few more bits. Thank you so much.

@Ocrumbs thank you so much for replying. I think because my dd is an only child and has no similar age cousins or relatives to play with, I carry a lot of mum-guilt, so I am probably trying to over compensate for that. She only has me or dh to play with or has to play by herself mostly. She mostly gets to play with dh during weekends, and maybe some week days occasionally. Also, her closest friends (also only children) go on their parents ipads quite a bit ( even during play dates sometimes) and my dd sees that, but she doesn't get to, so I don't mind buying her stuff to keep her occupied, it's the least I can do for her given the circs I think. She does get a stocking from Father Christmas with a few bits and bobs.
