What size joint of beef for a Christmas Day?

MIL has requested beef so it is mainly for her although the other meaties will likely have a slice with their turkey. I have a 700g joint in the freezer and assuming that will shrink. Am I right in thinking that's not going to do three people potentially? I have never cooked beef so whereas I would know that weight of gammon would be plenty I'm wary of undercatering. Thanks in advance

Tbh I ask the butcher and he advises me. We are having sirloin for 4 people and the butcher will cut the right amount for us, I’m going next week for it. Sorry not much help!

I think that would be fine for 3 people tbh.

Thanks both. On reflection will not order an extra one, just need to decide between the turkey joints in my basket now!

It'll just about do the job, as long as there aren't any nasty/excessively fatty bits running through it.

I'd personally go for something a bit bigger, just to be on the safe side. It's never conducive to a good family gathering if they leave complaining that you're stingy with the meat. You can always slice up any extra for sandwiches in the following few days when nobody can be bothered to cook...
