My c-section is scheduled for 22nd December and I've been told it may well be delayed until 23rd. I'm very high risk so will be in for 2 days, most likely.

What Christmas dinner alternatives can you recommend? Doing a food shop to be delivered on Tuesday to keep us going for at least the week! We have a 2 year old and no local family that can feed us with with a dinner either , so want to take things easy and enjoy the newborn bubble. Xmas Smile

Sausage plait (easier than it looks and can be frozen)
Proscuitto cheesy chicken
Individual salmon en croute
Truffle macaroni cheese

Pudding
Winter bombe

Which supermarket are you ordering from? I'd avoid having to prepare/cook anything as much as possible, if you want a Christmas dinner can you get the ready made stuff that comes on trays that you just have to put into a hot oven for however long it says? As there's only 2 of you plus toddler should be OK price-wise and in terms of oven space, M&S and Waitrose do really nice things...

Or alternatively I think something in pastry is a really good shout, always feels like a bit of a treat to me, a salmon en croute or a beef wellington? Or Charlie Bingham luxury ready meals are really nice, one of his pies or beef bourbignon would be good with a ready made potato gratin/dauphinoise and some green veg.

Or just embrace it and go totally non traditional, whats your favourite food normally, you could order in curry or pizza or chinese? Or do a delicious cold buffet of all your favourite cheeses/cold meats/smoked salmon and fresh bread and salad, bonus of that is you can pick at it through the day rather than having to assemble the family for a sit down?

Have you got a slow cooker?🙈 weekends where I can't be bothered, i Chuck lamb in the slow cooker and just do the lazy frozen sides (aunt Bessie's roasts and Yorkshire puds etc!)
I just throw the lamb in with some stock around 10 am and leave it to cook until 5pm,
I lived off slow cooker food after having my little one🙈 xxx
