Have hit upon the idea of arranging various subscriptions to arrive at dd's house during the year. Have thought of books and makeup and food. But ideas for good services for those and any other subscriptions would be really welcome please

I know she's been a bit down recently and would love to arrange for things to arrive to cheer her up through the year. She loves reading, she loves Harry Styles, she needs make up and nice food and any other thoughts welcome? Thanks

Sorry I mean good companies that you've used in the past. Thanks all. (yes, I know, very last minute. )

The best book subscription imo is the Willoughby book club. I've not had a bad bok, they're beautifully presented and always fit through the letter box.

Pact coffee is a good one. And what about the flat packed cocktails. Can't remember what they're called now!

I use Love My Read - can choose a book a month and it comes with a little treat to enjoy alongside.

I also have a candy subscription from The Conscious Candy Company each month. Great to try different products and find new favourites.

Spotify?

www.freddiesflowers.com if you wanted to send her flowers - I get them once a month or so. You could have one free box with my code: AllisoG86
The bouquets are always beautiful and last for weeks.

When I was very depressed, my mum used to send me flowers and encourage me to brighten up the flat with my own, so I try to keep some colour in my home even now.

There a re number of wine, gin, rum, spirits, cocktails, etc subscriptions out there. Some are expensive though.

I assume she has all the music and TV ones she needs.

Hotel chocolat does a chocolate subscription.

Nespresso do one too, if she drinks coffee, and you get a machine very cheap as part of the deal usually.

I'm sure there are make up and skin care Ines though haven't used them.

Pebble soaps are lovely.

I don't think I'm going to get her alcohol - she's minimising that as she's aware it doesn't do much for her wellbeing.

Thank you for other ideas - I think sweets and chocolate. She also likes things like smoked salmon which she can't afford on her student income, so I might look for that.

Coffee's also a good idea, but I already get her a monthly supply of pods for her machine (which I bought for her when she went to uni).

I don't know if she audible, perhaps that's an idea (she has spotify - I think she uses the family one I pay for already...).

Rowan Berry box, for stationery? I get it and it's lovely.

A luxury one is the Liberty Beauty Drop. £20 a month which is banked as credit to spend on beauty at Liberty (online or in store), and every 3 months she gets a box of samples and treats for free.

I'm saving my credit for next year's advent calendar I think. Or I'll cave midyear and buy face cream.

Stationery is a fab idea!

I'm looking at the Liberty one for me... but maybe I should not be so selfish.

Ah, looks like MN doesn't like me linking websites any more today. Really irritating when they do that, as they never look at the posts unless you email them. @mnhq

I’ve had a shocker of a year and one of my friend’s got me a flower subscription. It is wonderful. Just as I forget about it, another box arrives. I’m not sure it would have meant so much to me at 19 though. Make up would have done though. I love reading but I like to choose my own books to read so a surprise book wouldn’t suit me.

There’s baking ones as well if she likes those. A lovely thought, OP.

Pebble soaps are lovely.

Do you have a referral code @ibizatothenorfolkbroads ? I'm going to give them a try

OtterInABox · 17/12/2022 16:11

Leaf Envy - just do it for three months maybe?

A cheese subscription

Liberty beauty drop subscription which arrives every 3 months

Pyjama subscription

Seed probiotic subscription

What5hallido · 17/12/2022 16:14

You can get a pancake subscription on notonthehighstreet, different flavours. Thought that was a nice idea / treat

fyn · 17/12/2022 16:20

I’d recommend the Liberty one too!

thefiddlerselbow · 17/12/2022 21:48

My DD loved it when I did a Birchbox subscription for her at that age. She also loves a Graze box.

Purplepepsi · 18/12/2022 09:46

Baked in is also lovely if she likes baking?

HelenHywater · 18/12/2022 10:34

Thank you all - I think she'll love some of these!

@GetOffTheRoof what was the site you recommended? (It seems odd that MNHQ allowed all the other links to be posted....

I'm going to get a Bakedin subscription for my 10 yo dd. She'll love it. We did the Bake Off ones when they had a subscription.
