V late request from 7yo ds who wants surprises and superpowers for Christmas according to letter to Santa I intercepted. Surprises I can do. Super powers hmmm but that is what he wants most. I will write him a not from Santa about superpowers already being inside him he just has to awaken them. But any ideas for the thing to unwrap to bring them alive? An empty box of magic dust? Super power tablets (chocolate)? Aaargh. Am stuck

What about something like this Link

PatriciaHolm · 15/12/2022 17:23

Surely that's just going to lead to disappointment when he doesn't get superpowers? or tries to jump off the garage roof to waken his flying power...

I would rather go with the "santa doesn't do things that can't be wrapped"... story

WaltonOnNaze · 15/12/2022 18:55

Oh they are perfect @Margaritawithlime thank you! Now fingers’ crossed for the post

Spider catcher.. He can make spiders vanish!.

mam0918 · 15/12/2022 19:18

Not all superheros have powers... ironman and batman don't so maybe a cool 'gadget'.

Or magic kit stuff, I'm sure you can get some that create fire/smoke when rubbing hands together etc... looks 'magic power-y' but then the risk is a child with fire.

I also agree dont say that its in him or give him magic tablet it will only lead to disappointment... remember when red bull came out and kids rushed out to buy it (before we knew not to give energy drinks to kids as previously there was only lucozade which was commonly given to kids) genuinely believing it would make them fly, lot of disappointed kids.

A cape?

Bernadinetta · 15/12/2022 19:50

A simple magic trick he can easily learn to do, like that one where a coin disappears in a box, and you can all pretend to be amazed at his magical powers?

OhIdoLike2bBesideTheSeaside · 15/12/2022 20:03

A superhero outfit

DogInATent · 15/12/2022 20:10

Empty box with a note inside.

"Dear X,
Your very special present.
You can be whatever you
want to be when you try.
Use it for good.
Santa
PS.
Choose your own costume"

ClaudiusTheGod · 15/12/2022 20:11

Just say ‘can’t be done’ and move on…

RandomPerson42 · 15/12/2022 20:14

Explain that if Santa could grant superpowers all kids would ask for them, everyone would get them, and then they wouldn’t be super…

also imho superpowers are like skills, for example I consider the ability to play a musical instrument as a super power as it is so cool

ZenNudist · 15/12/2022 20:15

Kids ask for stuff you can't give them. Mine wants a real live (tame) particular zoo animal. His friend asked for a magic wishing pot.

Just say santa won't bring that better ask for something else.

I want a TARDIS I understand his request

Me too! There use to be a house near where I lived that had a big one in its garden, I use to love driving past it.

ITSSSSCHRISTMASSS · 15/12/2022 23:02

How about arranging something that involves real superhero’s in our communities, fire fighters, police, paramedics. Our local fire station is doing a Christmas grotto for kids and our local community police officers were out in Morrisons today, lots of kids around loving chatting to them. A great way to teach him superhero’s have all sorts of powers.

But @DogInATent that's just not true. My son is never going to be a professional rugby player. And believe me he tried for years to get even a trail for the county team. Went to the gym daily, went to practice without fail. Did summer rugby camp. He just wasn't good enough. Saying 'you can be whatever you want if you work hard enough' is a lie.
Just tell the kid Santa can't do that sort of thing, in the same way he can't make him half a foot taller. Some things just aren't possible.

WaltonOnNaze · 15/12/2022 23:31

So he doesn’t know I’ve seen the letter. This year it is secret to Santa, I think to test that Santa isn’t me. (But he trusted me to post the sealed envelope, hence the interception).

some great ideas thank you
