Where has the nicest wrapping paper?

For the first time in years I'm out of wrapping paper, tags, ribbons etc and need to stock up. Went to Tesco and the Co-op today to buy some and thought the selection was very poor.

I can get to most high street shops easily, where has the nicest paper and decorations? And before someone suggests it I want bright, Christmassy paper, not 'brown paper packages tied up with string'! That's not my idea of festive, although I know it is for many.

OP posts:

TKMaxx has some lovely quality paper in. Really thick and textured.

Kiitos · 13/12/2022 23:03

I’ve been on this exact quest today! TK Max/Homesense was the winner. Paperchase selection was shit. Waterstones had some nice ones but they didn’t look very good quality

Agree with PP about Caspari but it’s not easy to find, I have some that’s so fabulous I’m scared to use it up 🤣

We have a bit leftover from Woolworths many years ago. Otherwise I will be using pillow cases this year for economic and environmental reasons. Totally agree beautiful warpped presents are lush. But unsound environmentally

I do something similar for family presents - not pillowcases but drawstring bags in a selection of sizes made from Christmassy fabric. They were made by my daughter, who is much better with a sewing machine than I am.

Brown or any other plain coloured paper looks beautiful with lovely ribbon and tags IMO.

Happyhappyeveryday · 13/12/2022 23:18

Also recyclable, which glitter and foil print is not.

I was really disappointed with the paper in both Asda and Tesco this year. It was so bland and dull! I got some slightly nicer, more colourful stuff from Aldi, and then went to TKMaxx and found some gorgeous paper in there - and a really good selection, too.

herbaltea21 · 13/12/2022 23:43

Next, paper chase, M&S are my most reliable places for lovely paper!

I love Storigraphic, their designs are quite unusual and quirky, but I love them. I think they stock at smiths:

I think the OP is sorted now, but for anyone else who is looking.

For the past few years, I wrap quite a few presents on behalf of a friend. No, I’m not a mug! I quite like wrapping presents, she’s got a pretty hectic schedule. This year she got her paper from TKMaxx - it was great. Decent thickness and grid lines to help with cutting (the paper was really easy to glide the scissors through).

I have had that problem with M&S ,Sainsburys wrapping paper …so much ruined by the secure tape !

Same with Emma Bridgewater. Also it was really thin, poor quality paper. It wasn’t cheap either.

gogohmm · 14/12/2022 10:03

Lidl's is nice

Topbird29 · 16/12/2022 09:28

Just got some extra from co op (as had to wrap some things for someone else) - found it was really thin and also ripped quite easily compared to what I got from next.

Rcnotro · 17/12/2022 13:55

Lidl. Really good quality thick paper and lovely designs. Also cheap!

skippingthroughthedaisies · 17/12/2022 14:01

Aldi have nice designs and surprisingly good quality.

Did anyone see Joe Lycet the other night. Paper chase have been taken over and in the chaos neither they or their new owners have paid artists who design the cards.

Until they do that, they don’t deserve our money.

That’s terrible. I’ve also noticed new branches of Paperchase popping up on streets with lots of small independent shops in my 2 local cities ☹️

BuckarooBanzai · 20/12/2022 11:10

Morrisons this year was really impressed!

SnowJamz · 20/12/2022 18:25

That’s awful about Paperchase not paying their suppliers.

I thought Paperchase’s wrapping paper was really uninspiring this year. Some of it was same as last year and the rest was dull.

Nboo · 22/12/2022 22:08

TKMaxx. They sell very wide, thick, high quality paper that has unusual design, with grid at the back. I got loads of compliments especially for the "kids" ones. Love it as it's as so thick!
Costco paper is good too but more expensive .
