Where has the nicest wrapping paper?

For the first time in years I'm out of wrapping paper, tags, ribbons etc and need to stock up. Went to Tesco and the Co-op today to buy some and thought the selection was very poor.

I can get to most high street shops easily, where has the nicest paper and decorations? And before someone suggests it I want bright, Christmassy paper, not 'brown paper packages tied up with string'! That's not my idea of festive, although I know it is for many.

I bought a roll from Lidl for a quid and expected very little, but it was thicker and better quality than the Waitrose stuff I had bought reduced the year before.

Agree. Was not expecting much but it was decent quality and a good length.

Really hard to find nice paper this year. I like Morrisons offering. I’m not a tartan type of person but this looks quite nice on I thought. My other ones had gold and green rib ion on which looked fab. Also their gift bags with lovely mistletoe design and a knock off Father Christmas for the kids.
The green and gold was from Oxfam last year. Also the lovely red and gold paper ( reused from last year 🙂) Gutted that’s not back.

Got some nice paper from Next this year. Was £5 per 10m roll, and 3 for 2. So £10 for 30m. Most normal rolls are 3m.and being long it does bigger presents well (usually have some wide lego boxes to wrap).
Is good quality, thick, no glitter, and nice designs - I got red gingerbread, the creamy beige one and a silver one with baubles on. A couple of years ago got some nice m & s 10m rolls (again on 3 for 2). Tend to get it early (nov), or sometime can get a bargain in Jan

Costco. It’s reversible, and really good quality

QueenWenceslas · 13/12/2022 21:49

Following because I bought the Habitat wrapping paper that’s not shrink wrapped and it’s dreadful, really thin.

Bournetilly · 13/12/2022 21:54

B&M had some nice designs (the nicer ones were more for children)

Isthatmcormac · 13/12/2022 21:57

Another vote for TK Maxx 👍🏻😊

Or if you’re feeling spendy then I love the Eleanor Bowmer ones this year 😍😊

Vallmo47 · 13/12/2022 22:01

Whatever you do, dont get the Aldi wrapping paper 3 pack.

Pretty much ruined the lot by trying to unstick the bastard tapes, all 3 of them, that needlessly hold it together.
And it was the thinnest paper.

I have had that problem with M&S ,Sainsburys wrapping paper …so much ruined by the secure tape !

We have a bit leftover from Woolworths many years ago. Otherwise I will be using pillow cases this year for economic and environmental reasons. Totally agree beautiful warpped presents are lush. But unsound environmentally

allboysherebutme · 13/12/2022 22:09

Costco 100% but if you haven't got one near then John Lewis. X

bellabelly · 13/12/2022 22:18

Don't suppose you're anywhere near Rye? One of my friends sells the most beautiful wrapping paper! link here

Dreamwhisper · 13/12/2022 22:20

Paperchase is gorgeous, I get mine from there, they do both naice festive kraft paper stuff and super shiny bright paper! Proper ooh'd and aah'd when I'd finished wrapping my DC's presents I've done so far.

Beautifulsunflowers · 13/12/2022 22:26

I got some in tescos but agree that the choice was quite poor snd some was exactly the same as last year. It was made even worse by the labels they’d used instead of plastic to wrap it, totally ruined the paper as the labels ripped it. So thank you for this thread - I know where to go next year!

paintitallover · 13/12/2022 22:32

@Postgraddope exactly the same here, with the Aldi 5 Pack. Ruined half a metre doing it. Cost £5 too!

chocolateee · 13/12/2022 22:35

I loved M&S this year especially ally the simplicity of the gold striped one , woodland theme and candy cane pack .

Another vote for TK Maxx - got really big rolls of really good quality paper will last ages. Nice bright designs. Not tasteful.

@bellabelly I’m absolutely no where near Rye but your friend’s shop looks amazing! <off to work out how many hours a drive to Rye would take>

Wow this looks like my type of shop - have saved the page and will definitely try and visit early in 2023

Re OP - WHSmith, TKMaxx and my local B&M all had wonderful selection within last day or so (am at early shopping stage )

YouTarzan · 13/12/2022 23:00

If you Google Caspari - they do the best wrapping paper I’ve ever tried.

MadisonAvenue · 13/12/2022 23:00

I’ve bought mine from Primark for the last few years, I can’t remember whether I paid £1 or £1.50 for 8m this year.

DipmeinChoc · 13/12/2022 23:01
