Where has the nicest wrapping paper?

For the first time in years I'm out of wrapping paper, tags, ribbons etc and need to stock up. Went to Tesco and the Co-op today to buy some and thought the selection was very poor.

I can get to most high street shops easily, where has the nicest paper and decorations? And before someone suggests it I want bright, Christmassy paper, not 'brown paper packages tied up with string'! That's not my idea of festive, although I know it is for many.

John Lewis

WorriedMillie · 13/12/2022 20:10

Paperchase?

BinleyMegaChippy · 13/12/2022 20:13

Costco

HerkyBaby · 13/12/2022 20:30

John Lewis but don’t just look at their specific Christmas wrap as some really beautiful designs elsewhere such as Gems which many colours of ribbon look fabulous with.

PAFMO · 13/12/2022 20:39

This year WHS is great.
I spend a fortune on wrapping paper and can easily spend more time finding it than the presents. 😂

Previously I've had John Lewis, M&S, Paperchase, Selfridge's, Boots etc etc.

Disappointed with Paperchase as the designs are the same more or less as previous years. M&S had less selection than usual. JL always out of stock.

WHS and Waterstones both have lovely, traditional, bright (I'm a sucker for the reds and greens) designs.

Paper chase was so disappointing, same stuff as last year! And then some weird dinosaur stuff!

Squ1ggle · 13/12/2022 20:40

Might not have as much choice now but I always buy mine from TKMaxx. They sell extra long rolls of thick, quality paper which lasts me for years there's so much of it

AdoraBell · 13/12/2022 20:41

I bought ribbons this year from Cox & Cox, there paper looks nice but I haven’t tried it.

Floralnomad · 13/12/2022 20:41

Costco , the double sided one , we won’t use anything else now .

NecklessMumster · 13/12/2022 20:46

I second Costco, lovely and wide, doesn't tear, double sided. But I think shops have got the recycling message now, so you might think they look more muted this year in the supermarkets? Use ribbons? Our council wouldn't recycle anything glittery or foiled last year so I'm using kraft type paper this year.

Choconut · 13/12/2022 20:46

I bought a roll from Lidl for a quid and expected very little, but it was thicker and better quality than the Waitrose stuff I had bought reduced the year before.

Choppies · 13/12/2022 20:48

M&S - good long rolls. Recyclable. Grid marks to help you cut straight. What’s not to love??

meditrina · 13/12/2022 20:49

These pop up charity shops also sell wrapping paper - all profits to good causes

Whistlefish. Lovely designs and good quality.

Mostly doesn't appear to be recyclable though which is shocking.

Everytime1 · 13/12/2022 20:58

Whsmiths has a fantastic range and they have biodegradable glitter/recyclable ones. Plus recyclable ribbons, labels, bows, etc. 3 for 2 as well I believe.

Tigofigo · 13/12/2022 21:00

I thought Sainsbury's had some nice designs in and I liked that it wasn't shrink wrapped in plastic either.

I've always found WH Smith to be good quality too.

MargotMoon · 13/12/2022 21:03

Thanks all, going to try Smiths as that's easy to get to!

Totally agree, TKMaxx has the best wrapping paper always feels really expensive and thick

Hepzibar · 13/12/2022 21:09

Agree with others WH Smith is the best and always is.
M&S particularly poor this year.

Furrybutts · 13/12/2022 21:09

I love Costco wrapping paper, such good quality and loads on the roll.

DaisyDaisyDoesHe · 13/12/2022 21:12

WH Smith this year

AlphaAlpha · 13/12/2022 21:16

Whatever you do, dont get the Aldi wrapping paper 3 pack.

Pretty much ruined the lot by trying to unstick the bastard tapes, all 3 of them, that needlessly hold it together.
And it was the thinnest paper.

TheNoodlesIncident · 13/12/2022 21:20

I have lots of M&S paper as it has the useful grid markings on the back. BUT I'm "not allowed" to buy any more as I've tended to buy more than I use in the sales and now have over FIFTY rolls in a huge bag in the loft Blush Despite DH's embargo I did slip and accidentally bought two rolls of John Lewis wrap because it was so nice...

Maybe you could get some more online in the January sales?
