Best supermarket pork pie

DH and MIL have pork pie for Christmas Day breakfast.

Can anyone tell me what the best pork pie from a supermarket is at the moment? The reviews for the Waitrose pie are from last year.

It's not a special Christmas one, but my other half RAVES about the Dickinson & Morris ones and says they taste like you remember pork pies from your childhood tasting like!
I've seen them in Tesco, Sainsburys etc - red and blue wrapper, not super expensive.

That’s really helpful @SnackyOnassis thank you.

It doesn’t need to be a special Christmas one, just big. DH has ruled out the big M&S one.

Is there not a bakery near by? There's will be far nicer than a supermarket one.

Nope. The last one shut a few years ago. Hence asking about supermarket ones.

Ah that's a shame

These are the best pork pies I've ever had:

Well worth the extra for a Christmas treat, in my opinion.

Maybe they are, but I asked for the best supermarket pie @ElizabethinherGermanGarden

Do you have a local butcher? Many make their own pork pies or buy in from larger local producers, if so you could buy a small one to try and if it’s good, order a large one for Christmas

My husband likes these too, and he's tried a lot of pork pies. He does prefer those from the butcher, but he'd pick the Dickinson & Morris if he's getting one from the supermarket.

Honestly the M&S one is worth the extra money,we had it last year, only lasted till boxing day 😀

MinnieMountain · 12/12/2022 17:17

I like the M&S one (we have pork pie when we go walking) but DH will not be persuaded.
I saw the Dickinson & Morris one in our local Waitrose today, so that sounds like a safe bet.

I know...but I have become an evangelist for these. I never used to like pork pies and now I have the zeal of the convert!

Hope someone who reads more carefully can give you the answer and that you find good ones.
