We do a stocking for each other on Christmas morning to open alongside the kids. Nothing super expensive (think chocolate bar / nail polish / lip balm).

Looking for some nee ideas for this year please

With consideration of awesome ideas of the posters above, my dream stocking would have

Pretty patterned socks- I always seem to need more!
Lip Balm
Chocolate orange/ coins/ Lindt figurines or walnut whips
Nice functional/smart writing pen/s
Trolley coin
Chocolate bomb for dissolving to make hot chocolate
scratch off lottery ticket
A pretty fold up umbrella
Meaningful or pretty christmas tree ornament
Possibly a pretty pack of handbag tissues
Mini bottle of Rose wine

I wouldn't mix soaps and chocolate in one stocking. I don't know how, but I have memories of my mum doing this and somehow the chocolate all tasted a bit soapy after even through the packaging.

Personally I wouldn't care much for the bath products or cosmetics as I know what types I like and I'm probably not keen on change.

Go to M&S and buy a selection of mini products from their beauty section. They have some lovely perfumes for £5/10 etc. Also candles and anything from their aromatherapy range.

A pair of earrings

Socks

Lindt mini eggs

Malteser chocolate reindeer

Incense sticks

Rimmel nail varnishes are cheap

Face wipes

One use face masks/ foot masks/ hand masks (plenty in B&M)

Lip balm

Hand cream

Pens and small notebook

Scout round some charity shops for mugs, trinkets, jewellery, scarves, a book etc

As DH is not the most discreet I know I have...

  • a travel cup
  • fudge
  • cactus seed
  • book

He usually puts gingerbread in as he knows I hate it! (Goes back to early on in the marriage where he kept forgetting)

Then there will be chocolate

So many lovely suggestions wish you were all making me a stocking 😍

The one thing I would say OP is that it very much depends what your wife likes, a stocking for me is about being extra thoughtful and carefully choosing things I know the recipient would love not just grabbing any mini sized "stocking filler"
for example the mini bottle/ can of alcohol or soft drink would be her favourite, the chocolate could be either her favourite or something she always mentioned getting as a child. If you know the brand of toiletries or makeup she regularly uses a miniature of those is useful but a miniature of something she'd never use is pointless.

Stocking fillers I have received and LOVED in the past have been quite personal to me that someone else wouldn't want if that makes sense. For example I love Nutella but don't buy it often so a little jar of that was well received, a fancy jar of curd was also a lovely treat. A small compact mirror for my hand bag the year I dropped mine and smashed just made me feel really well thought of.

Lovely that you've posted on here for ideas, bet she will be chuffed with her stocking and I think it's nice for the kids to see their parents enjoying the stocking fun like you say doesn't have to be expensive.

Merry Christmas 🎅🏻
