I've got the same challenge. Booking marking 🤞🏻

I'm sure I've done it before through Amazon when sending a birthday present plus this year I've bought from Amazon Germany to be shipped to Finland as it circumnavigated all the customs issues I would have if I was sending from the UK

My brother has done it the other way by using the UK Amazon and shipping to us when he is in the US. Might have only worked as he used to live here. Can you use Amazon.com?

Jaichangecentfoisdenom · 11/12/2022 11:37

It depends on the company you use. In my bitter experience, a lot of North American companies where you can shop online will generally only accept online/telephone orders from people using North American credit cards or US PayPal. It's really annoying and hasn't improved much since I started having this problem when my family moved to Canada 20 years ago. None of the big department stores do it, to the best of my knowledge. I'm not sure about Amazon.com, you might want to give that a go and see if they'll accept your UK credit card or PayPal?

Sorry not sure what you mean about Amazon?

MrsMitford3 · 11/12/2022 11:41

I am in UK and I have bought from amazon.com and sent parcel directly to recipient in USA.

MrsMitford3 · 11/12/2022 11:41

no idea what that link is in my post!

Spaghettihooplas · 11/12/2022 11:43

When using Amazon.com do you sign in to your Amazon account?

This definitely works. For other websites, some will work but others will need US specific information when you order such as a US zip code when you put in payment details so it is a case of try and see for some. Amazon is a safe bet though if you use .com rather than .co.uk

GreenPeacock · 11/12/2022 11:45

I’ve done Amazon.com before, I tried it with Walmart once and it failed at the last moment because they wouldn’t accept my UK PayPal. I definitely used my usual Amazon email for the US site but I can’t remember if I had to sign up from scratch. I know I took out a prime sub for the free shipping and promptly cancelled it!

I’ve also been able to buy an E-gift card for a coffee shop in the US.

Theopossumwasmeantforme · 11/12/2022 11:51

It's the same account details on US amazon. Should work fine!

Spaghettihooplas · 11/12/2022 12:00

Thanks everyone! Now I’ve just got to choose a gift.

We do this regularly as we have family in the US. We use Amazon.com to send gifts (sometimes vouchers) to the children and the Collins St Bakery every year to send one of their legendary cakes to my BiL and SiL.

Spaghettihooplas · 11/12/2022 12:46

Arrrgghh now the zip code keeps telling me it’s wrong. Do you know if you need both parts of the zip code or just one. Amazon keeps changing the second bit

I ordered from Walmart last year and had it delivered to a hotel in New York where my brother was staying (it was a must have Christmas toy 🙄) and I had no issues at all so I imagine Amazon will be fine

What do you mean by both parts? I thought zip codes were just like 5 digits or something.

Spaghettihooplas · 11/12/2022 15:02

It had a 5 digit with a - then a four digit from what I was given. I contacted the company where I am sending and they said just the 5 digits is fine.
thanks everyone for helping me out I appreciate it. Gift brought and hopefully I’ve sent it to the right place 🤞🤞
