Morning, can anyone recommend some switch games that have gone down well with young 7 olds who are still not confident readers? So far we have Pokémon (not a massive hit) and Marco kart (big hit) just ordered a Lego Ninjargo one and I’d like one more for Christmas. Many thanks.

Pikmin 3……my boys age 5 and 8 are obsessed with it, it’s little creatures finding fruit and lost passengers for their spaceship from what I can tell.

monopoly…. I think it’s a bit boring but the boys seem to spend ages playing it.

super Mario deluxe….. I think every household up and down the land have this, it’s a classic like Mario kart.

Captain Toad or Yoshi’s Crafted World

There are lots of random cheapy switch games that are lots of fun, some we've spent ages on are Astrobear and Katamari Damacy. Overcooked is great too.

Be careful with some of the Lego ones, they can be a bit tricky.

The super Mario ones are good, Odyssey is our favourite and is doable for a 7 year old with perhaps a little help from time to time.

Yoshi’s crafted world (or something like that) is easier.

The sports ones are good too, there is a new one very similar to wii sports that you act out the moves, bowling, tennis etc, that’s good fun.

Oh yes, would second mario party too, my son loves this one and you can join in with this one.

Ringfit adventure is great for a bit of real-life movement Grin

Sorry, should maybe have added it’s a switch lite in case that makes a difference.

Mario 3D Land
Mario Odyssey
Super Monkey Ball
Donkey Kong
Toad Tressure Hunter

My 7yo loves (behind in reading but rarely asks for help reading the options etc):

Minecraft
Lego Harry Potter
Lego Super Heroes
Just Dance
Star Wars

Super Mario odyssey is a huge hit in our house. Highly recommend.
There is an "assist mode" which is good for beginners.

My DS got his Switch when he turned 6 and played Minecraft from the get go. He didn't read much at all and was able to play the game with no problem as you are basically just building and the game talks to you. He also loves all the Sonic the Hedgehog games and Rayman.

YolayCaprese · 11/12/2022 23:40

Kirby and the forgotten land, my 4 year old bloody loves it.
Also mario kart and mario odyssey, though that is a bit more difficult.

slipperypenguin · 12/12/2022 00:17

I would second Mario party

Super Smash Bros.
Splatoon 3
Nintendo Switch Sports
