Stocking fillers for teen boys

UndertheCedartree · 09/12/2022 16:00

My DS is 15 and despite me asking him countless times will not give me any clues as to what I could get him! He just wants money aside from his main present which is fine but I do need a few ideas for his stocking and a couple of things for under the tree. He is into anime and Japanese things and likes grooming. Any ideas?

I've got Japanese sweets and biscuits and curly hair shampoo, conditioner and styling product. Any really good book recommendations? He"s a book work but never reads any of the books I get him!

My 15 year old wants band merch, band merch, and more band merch. I'm getting him a Spotify subscription, Converse, chocolate. Books - Orwell, Camus, Louis Theroux.

What about a kindle? If he's a book worm.

mam0918 · 09/12/2022 17:54

I always have Panda Biscuits in the stocking as they take up room and are cheap.

My DS is getting a spoon (random I know) but in a similar vein I have heard people say chopsticks are popular in stockings.

I dont know much about Anime myself but what about a book like this

Lots of ideas on this thread www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/4692289-stocking-fillers-for-17-year-old-son?reply=122088511

Bonsai tree?

Leeds2 · 09/12/2022 18:01

£5/10 gift card for his stocking, for Nando's/Costa etc.

New undies.

Keyboard putty.

DingDangMintyBells · 09/12/2022 18:08

My ds wants money and he genuinely doesn’t want other things. I have bought some edibles as I know they won’t be wasted. Last year when I asked and said I didn’t want Christmas to be flat he looked at me like I was a dinosaur and said “I don’t need tat” so I am taking him at his word.

PermanentTemporary · 09/12/2022 18:10

Chocolate coins.
Im putting a couple of spice jars in ds's stocking as he's gone to uni and is cooking more than I thought he would.

A smaller stocking?

MaMisled · 09/12/2022 18:13

We used to have smallish stocking as well as main presents. I used to put pound coins in, fivers, chocolate plus, as someone else said, small amounts on gift cards for anywhere they're likely to want to go, Greggs, Costa etc.

mdh2020 · 09/12/2022 18:16

My DC always wanted pants, sock, pens and paper plus chocolate

MyTabbyCats · 09/12/2022 18:27

Socks, boxers, cheap fun Christmas card games, Lynx gift boxes, biscuits, sweets, chocolate.

mumonthehill · 09/12/2022 18:32

Ramen bowel, chopsticks, noodles. Primark had make your own dumpling kits and sushi kits which I got.

jackstini · 09/12/2022 18:56

My 14 yo has requested:
Spam, pepperami, pants & socks (because it's the law at Christmas you have to get at least 1 pair) sweets, hair stuff, PlayStation vouchers, good chocolate spread

My Dd 14 loves all things Korean and her favourite place is our local Asian supermarket. You can find some really cool bits and bobs, sweets, lanterns, all the noodles. Could be fun stocking fillers. For Panda biscuits try B&M or Home bargains though.

ShirleyValentin3 · 09/12/2022 21:40

What about an experience? Could be a Japanese meal with a friend, or something adventurous?

Tickets to a theme park with a friend?

I got my son a parachute jump when he was 16. The least active kid in the world, but 5 years on, still hands down the best present ever!

I'll have a look at the book suggestions, thanks. He already has a kindle that he doesn't use!

I have Panda biscuits! 😊 And that book looks really great - I think he would love that, thank you!

It is so easy to end up buying things for the sake of it. I always feel I need to get him things because his younger sister will have stuffed stocking and presents under the tree. But I've been trying really hard just to get things he will genuinely want/use but this year is the first he's given me no ideas! And last year he said at the time I'd bought him too much chocolate and sweets! So I'm trying not to get too many edibles as well!

I will definitely be getting pants and socks! Can't go wrong there! 😄

I didn't see those kits in Primark - might have to have another look. He has sushi equipment but a dumpling kit would be good, thanks for the idea.

This made me laugh. Just what my son would have wanted at that age!
He lives a bit of spam 😂
