Secret Santa for male colleague I don’t know

A new guy started last month at work and I’ve picked him out for secret Santa. He’s not on my department so I’ve not really spoken to him.
Any ideas for up to £10? All I have managed to find out is that he is vegan and doesn’t drink alcohol. Never seen him eat anything so couldn’t get any ideas from that either!

A book token?

stuntbubbles · 08/12/2022 20:56

The Green Roasting Tin cookbook is a tenner on Amazon at the moment.

I was just about about to suggest that too!

Vouchers are terrible for secret santa, please don't give those!

Why not? I’d far rather a book token or voucher for secret Santa than some of the tat I’ve seen suggested on other threads. Thinking of the glasses holders here.

How about a desk calendar? There's lots of them with nice pictures for 365 days a year. I got my colleague one with a paper airplane to make every day, so could be fun or serious.

The glasses holder…oOh no it was bloody awful.

Batman Lego keychain. Genuinely. I got my managing director it in my first job out of uni and (he might have just been polite) loved it.

People really like Lego.

People always pan the boring choices of wine or chocolate, but let’s be honest many more people like wine and chocolate than [insert specific thing here]. And you don’t even have a lead as to something more specific. Wine is out, so go with chocolate. There’s loads of choice for vegans now.

socks! lol
Just an idea - I received a festive bath towel and really appreciated it.

Last Secret Santa I did I didn't know the guy at all, so I got him beer and Christmas socks. He found out it was me afterwards and told me that he'd told his flatmate earlier in the day that he really hoped his gift wouldn't be too try hard and just be something simple like.... beer or socks 😆. He was buzzing. My gift fell into the first category and therefore a bit meh. I'd have been perfectly happy with wine or chocolates.

Anyway, moral of the story. Simple and boring is good. Obviously not beer in your case OP, but don't be afraid of the simple.

I would just got him an Amazon voucher to be honest. You have no idea what he likes so he can get anything he wants with that.

MinnieMountain · 09/12/2022 06:48

Our work secret Santa has a spreadsheet to allow people to give suggestions. The men have largely put beer, chocolate or vouchers.

Ediealone · 09/12/2022 18:54

Thanks for the suggestions!
I ended up going to M&S and got some vegan stuff from the food hall on sale so am doing a vegan hamper - spent £11 so only just over budget!
