Recommendations for sensory toys please

For a young baby,

Just been recently blessed with grandson, and of course because he was born so near Christmas they are swamped with stuff.

I asked if there's anything in particular they'd like and his mama said "Something sensory - crinkly, something like that".

Any ideas, anyone? Noises, textures, colours, lights, whatever - these are new to me.

We got our granddaughter some sensory books and cubes.
We also got her a foil blanket and some silk scarves.

Foil emergency blankets are great for little ones to lay on. Usually find them on Amazon for a couple of pounds.

A plastic rainmaker, ours loved theirs, as did I.

A taggy blanket or taggy comforter. My winter baby got a lot of use out of the blanket as we used it in the pram.

Also, if you can get to a Smyths toy store, they had a pack of sensory balls.....hard to describe but very lovely for little hands

Lamaze Freddie the Firefly or Captain Calamari.

Almost anything can be a sensory toy, but I’d start with something like: Foil emergency blanket, rainmaker, a Brio rattle, a Glitter wand, a small child safe mirror, a maraca.

Look up treasure baskets. You could start up a basket and then add to it as they get older. If theyre newborn you could also get black and white things/ patterns etc. Tiger do handheld lights that are great.

If you can afford them these would definitely be worth it!! They have them at sensory class and I've never seen a baby not like them!! My next child (in 4-5 years if all goes to plan) will be getting some and I wish I go my little one some but he is 15 months now so it's too late really.

A bubble machine. My DD has been fascinated with bubbles since her sensory class at 6 weeks. Now at 7 months she tries to catch the bubbles.
She loves the foil blanket and foil crinkly books.
I am also going to get her some light up bath toys for Christmas
