Help - what do your 17 year old girls like?

I need to get a present for a 17 year old girl - we used to be quite close when she was younger but she's been at boarding school and due to covid etc I haven't seen her in a few years so I now have no idea about her personal style or what she's currently into. I'm looking to spend up to £20 so just a little token really. Any ideas gratefully welcomed!

Benefit have some gift sets in Christmas tins

Hohohoholidays · 06/12/2022 08:42

Do you know anything about her? Hobbies etc? Her style?
Might be able to help with some suggestions 🙂

If you can check with a parent what she's in to at moment then at least you will have a theme. I have similar age who loves Dr Who so can get themed scarf, gloves, necklace, pyjamas etc.

Make up brushes (not make up, that age can be particular)
Set of nail varnish
Make up bag
Oodie (cheaper non-brand)
Amazon voucher
Voucher for restaurants/coffee shops like pizza express, Costa etc
Funky or fluffy socks
Bed throw
Cushion
Earrings
Large light up letter with her first initial
Small shoulder bag just fits phone and purse (for going out to clubs next year)
Laptop case
Jewellery tree
Mug and selection of hot chocs
Portable battery power bank for phone
Waterproof phone case

My just turned 18 year old loves jewellery and also diamond painting and sketching. Clothes are a good present but better to stick to general clothing like pyjamas, slippers, novelty socks etc.

Perfume gift set?
Amazon voucher
Makeup gift sets
Dressing gown?
Studio do some great Christmas gifts, or you could try New Look, they do some really nice gifts and pj's ect..

For me I’d see what she’s got first and what she’d like.

17 year olds I know like:-

plants
alternative fashion and brightly coloured hair dye
vouchers for restaurants or coffee shops good

Thanks for the suggestions! Unfortunately I really have no idea about her hobbies etc, I could ask her parents but tbh they're a bit clueless 😂 one isn't in the country and the other one would probably just say 'shopping'

I'm only seeing her once so I need to get her present now unfortunately, I can't suss out what she's got already. Her family are wealthy and she's at a very posh school so she already has quite a lot of 'stuff'.

Shecrazy · 06/12/2022 10:11

I'd definitely check in with her parents first.

I've got a 16 year old who doesn't wear make up so wouldn't be interested in that for a present, and loves showers not baths so bath bombs wouldn't be used either.

She'd love Superdry vouchers or specific vinyls she's after. She'd love anything to do with the sport that she spends all her spare time doing or merchandise from the national team that do that sport.

She lives in Doc Martins and band Tshirts as well as sports stuff.

She reads a lot but has 100s of books so it's hard to choose for her if you don't have access to her bookcase!

There will be lots of parents on here with girls who are the polar opposite of mine so would hate all that. So what I'm trying to say is, if you want to get her something that she'll enjoy I'd just ask her parents for ideas.

Sorry, cross posted there! In that case maybe just cafe vouchers then or chocolate (I'd probably check if she's vegan first though).

It makes me sad that her parents seemingly know nothing about their daughter though 😞

Duchessofmuchness · 06/12/2022 20:25

Marshmallow roasting set (although might not be ok if veggie - not sure if they have veggie sets

Cushion - DD got a lovely one of all the places she had lived.

Popplebop · 06/12/2022 20:33

For the 17 year olds I know: small plants, earrings/necklaces, nail varnish, funko pops (very specific!), coffee vouchers, make up, fluffy socks, Oodies, Wednesday adams clothing, record vouchers. Cold hard cash.

Wazzzzzuuuuuuup · 06/12/2022 20:40

Vouchers for a cat cafe? It's a fun experience and my dds and DNs 14-17y all enjoyed

dancemom · 06/12/2022 20:51

Costa / Starbucks vouchers
Amazon vouchers
Pjs / fluffy socks
Small plants
Chalkboard or memo board
Fairy lights
Afternoon tea voucher
Cushions and throw for her bed

Panicmode1 · 06/12/2022 20:54

My 17 yr old has asked for vouchers for Urban Outfitters, Pandora (she is an obsessive collector of HP and Marvel charms!). She works in Accessorize so buys huge numbers of earrings and rings with her staff discount, but those are the other things she spends money on....

KangarooKenny · 06/12/2022 21:45

Fluffy PJ’s and socks from Primark.
Snowfairy shower gel from Lush.
