Anime stuff for dd aged 10 - can anyone help?

So we went to comic-con this year and my dd (a bit socially awkward, possibly autistic,) really loved it. She's asked for a pink anime costume for Christmas - where can I find her a costume that isn't a bit pornographic? (so not the japanese school girl stuff where they're barely dressed) She doesn't want one off amazon - she wants a proper one!

Also, where is a reputable website to buy her other anime stuff - maybe get her into the comics, a nice hoodie, back pack etc? We did some anime drawing while we were at comic-con which she also enjoyed.

I'm not sure about a costume but Shein has lots of anime clothing & wigs.
Does she like Geshin Impact?
I've seen geshin impact costumes on aliexpress if that helps.

Not pink though.

Forbidden planet should have comics & other bits. Best of luck!

HelenHywater · 06/12/2022 06:12

I hadn't thought about aliexpress! I hadn't ventured onto there. Thanks!

I think she probably wants something more authentic than that linked to. They had lots of cosplay stuff for sale at comic-con which she was really struck by. I thought she'd forget about it, but it's top of her list

Forbidden Planet

HelenHywater · 06/12/2022 06:13

Forbidden Planet looks like just the thing for the comics etc! Thanks (this is a whole world I know NOTHING about!).

Not strictly anime but you can find some good, alternate stuff on EMP, truffle shuffle and redbubble. I've also seen some really nice things, instore at HMV.

AmberGer · 06/12/2022 06:30

*alternative (Sorry)

You can get how to draw anime books on Amazon / eBay

ofwarren · 06/12/2022 06:37

Can she tell you which characters she likes in particular? That might make it easier. Sailor Moon for example.

Nellodee · 06/12/2022 06:46

Amazon have some pretty decent costumes, they’re not all smithy’s these days. Does she like demon slayer? My daughter bought the nezuko costume and it looks awesome. Don’t assume the quality will be terrible. I’ve seen pictures of people clearly wearing Amazon bought demon slayer outfits at comic conventions. You can also get ddlc costumes, toilet ghost, dangan ronpa etc. I’d say check out what anime is her favourite and go from there.

Nellodee · 06/12/2022 06:48

As a side note, when you do see the premade anime costumes, they seem to be the same ones wherever you get them from. They’re obviously all made in China and resold over here by various sellers.

Emmelina · 06/12/2022 07:17

UK Etsy sellers might be your best bet this close to Christmas, a lot will ship from China and take weeks. AliExpress has some decent ones but again weeks to come!
Is there a particular anime she likes? Mine is into the Magical Girl genre, so sailor moon, Cardcaptor Sakura…

HelenHywater · 06/12/2022 21:14

thanks all. It's hard to find out what she wants as she still believes in Father Christmas. So all I've got is her letter to FC which isn't very clear, because it just refers to the costume she saw at comic con. And I don't know what it is! (FC would plainly know of course).

I'll question her a little bit if I can.

Not costume related but the Works has some good ‘draw Manga’ type books for very reasonable prices.

Good luck on your search!

randomusername02 · 06/12/2022 21:29

You could get her a subscription to crunchyroll to watch anime online, they have an option to filter out adult anime.

Emmelina · 06/12/2022 21:32

Did you get any photos at comic con, particularly the cosplayer she liked? Thinking we may be able to help identify the character :)

ITSSSSCHRISTMASSS · 06/12/2022 22:33

Not costume, but I’ve bought my DDs some how to draw gatch and anime books off Amazon, also bought Manga colouring books in the range in the past. My DDs watch a lot of YouTube how to draw anime videos.

I was also looking at these curtains for my DDs room.

My 11 year old dd is massively into anime. She has a range of wigs and outfits from Amazon, all great.
