Jam Swiss roll without Buttercream

An important request- does anyone know where I can get a jam Swiss roll WITHOUT buttercream.

This is an essential part of my sherry trifle but everywhere seems to only offer them with buttercream now.

(I know I could make one myself, I don't want to).

Supermarket budget own brand swiss roll would be ideal, but I have just searched online and although several of them come up, none are in stock. I wonder whether they have discontinued their value ranges, so people have to pay more for a dearer one. Cynical? Me?

I had this exact issue last year for an elderly relative, who also wanted to make a sherry trifle! I got her one at in the end at the co-op. Might be worth looking if you have a local one

This is for my 86 year old mum! Last year I used Madeira cake and spread a bit of jam on.

Thanks to those suggesting trifle sponges but they are just not the same.

Is the Sainsburys one jam only? I'm answering my own query now!

The Sainsbury’s one looks to be jam only. Try a couple of the cheaper food shops like Iceland or a local grocery store, they often have stuff like that in.

Tesco Mollys range swisd rolls definitely only have jam in as I've bought 2 for our trifle this year. They're perfect and cheap as chips. No issues with stock in store but haven't checked online.

I am on the hunt too for Swiss roll without buttercream. I went to Sainsbury’s today having previously purchased there this year but to no avail 😔.

M&S have them! Found the by accident this year.
