We've got:
Mini vegetable samosas
Mini vegetable spring rolls
Chicken corn dogs
Southern fried chicken bites
Cocktail sausages
Onion bhajis
Mini fish and chip cones
A Mini dessert selection
I've also got some mushroom aranchini for me and dp has terriyaki salmon skewers, salt and pepper prawns and Mini lamb koftas.

I still want to get some satay chicken skewers, Mini sausage rolls, pickled onions, nice cold meats - ham, turkey, beef ect. and some nice bread. I also want to get some kind of cheese and meat platter/some stuff to make one with. I also kind of want to make a prawn cocktail but don't know of it will be a weird addition 🤷‍♀️🤣

prawn cocktail will be messy to eat if everything else is finger food.
we’ve never had a Christmas buffet!

NegroniLover · 03/12/2022 14:05

We've never ever had a Christmas buffet & to be honest I never heard of it being a thing until I joined MN.
I know people do it but I just can't imagine this on Christmas day.
Even on occasions where we're hosting or being hosted for a gathering there wukd be a 'main' dish & perhaps sides placed on the table for guests to help themselves but I've never been at a buffet as described by the OP

AlwaysLatte · 03/12/2022 14:11

Nothing yet, it's weeks away!

GettingStuffed · 03/12/2022 14:13

Cheese, crisps, twiglets, olives and I expect DH will have bought some meats and more cheese

frozendaisy · 03/12/2022 14:23

Pickled onions

TribeD · 03/12/2022 14:55

Nothing...so if its okay with you @NoNamesLeft234678 we'll be round at 3.00pm?

ApolloandDaphne · 03/12/2022 15:06

I've never had a Christmas buffet. I'm not fond of that sort of food. It never seems very satisfying to me.

Always4Brenner · 03/12/2022 15:21

Vol e vonts
spring rolls
sausage rolls
cheese onion rolls
will do cheese nearer the time
crackers
this is for me so no olives or anything like that.

husbandcallsmepickle · 03/12/2022 16:08

We don't have a Christmas buffet either. I would describe OP's list as party food when you have lots of friends over

Mushroo · 03/12/2022 16:16

The responses are so miserable 😂 Christmas buffets / party food is definitely a thing! Someone must be buying it as the supermarkets are crammed with the stuff! We’re doing on Xmas eve:

  • pigs in blankets
  • prawns
  • nice ham
  • baguettes from a local bakery
  • cheese board and chutneys
  • pate
  • winter salad with sprouts and pomegranates
  • mixed roasted veg (carrots, parsnips etc)
  • pork pie
  • crisp and dip selection
  • Yule log from local patisserie

Arancini is a great shout, might add that to the list.

PacificallyRequested · 03/12/2022 16:19

I've never had a Christmas buffet. Confused

barskits · 03/12/2022 16:19

Crisps, chocolate biscuits, Quality Street, and in the freezer there are 6 chicken drumsticks which were left over from a bumper pack of chicken portions that I bought a couple of weeks ago.

By now there would normally be some pork and chestnut stuffing in the freezer as well, but I can't find any this year - been looking for weeks.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 03/12/2022 16:40

I don't like buffets with lots of mixtures of things.

Instead I like:
cheese
pickles
crackers
bread rolls
cold meat or Quorn equivalent
veggie sausage rolls
crisps
salad

mince pies
meringues
thick cream

Mrsfussypants1 · 03/12/2022 16:58

Nothing. And your lists are making me hungry and eager to start stocking the fridge! Our new fitted fridge freezer arrives next Saturday then dh and fil have to fit it so it will be Monday when I can start filling it. I'll start with cheeses and pates as they usually have a good date on them.

LouLou198 · 03/12/2022 16:59

Shocked at the people that have never had Christmas buffets!!
I have been adding stuff to my freezer for weeks, we are having some friends round the week before:
-Mulled wine
-Christmas tree shaped breaded chicken
-spring rolls
-chicken satay skewers
-mini pizzas
-mini pasties
-samosas
-onion bahjis
-mozzarella sticks
-Pringles
-chicken wings.
Just need some desserts, thinking mini cheesecakes/profiteroles.
Can't wait Smile

This is our Boxing Day plan. We get home from ski hol late on Christmas Eve and thankfully eating at parents on the big day itself. Because we won’t have been shopping it will be frozen buffet food on Boxing Day all the way. So far have crackers, spring rolls, sausage rolls, mini steak pastries, cheese bites and a frozen dessert etc but definitely need more. Some good ideas here. Also want to get a quiche and some part baked bread I can freeze beforehand. Can you freeze a cheese and Parma ham selection?
