Any idea what I can get mum and dad who recently bought a luxe new motor home?!

Some excellent ideas from @Globetrotterwitch

If you need a little extra gift, and assuming they have a sense of humour, this might appeal?!

How about a National Trust or English Heritage membership?

A book to fill out on their travels, which details the trip including sites.

I would be loath to get them anything for the motorhome, unless they mention something,as you could duplicate what they've already got

Siezethefish · 03/12/2022 22:53

If they have an external
gas outlet, a cadac safari chef.

DogInATent · 03/12/2022 23:25

What would you have got them before they bought the motorhome?

The problem with hobby-related presents is that unless you ask them what they'd like, you fall into the trap of:

  • already bought for themselves; or
  • don't want; or
  • have no use for

Guide books are probably the best shout of the list above. If they're interested in travel abroad, perhaps a copy of All the Aires. I'd avoid the "travel sized" toiletries - it's a motorhome, weight isn't an issue for toiletries. Camping chairs is a good shout if they don't already have some. A Travel Minky is handy for longer trips.

We've picked up lots of little bits whilst we've had our MH, but they're all things we realised we needed/wanted along the way. It's difficult to think of something that would apply to just anyone else. And a modern luxury motorhome is probably coming with a lot of bells and whistles to start with.

Microfibre bath towels, Crocs or flip flops for those night time trips to the toilet block, a Camping & Caravan club gift voucher. A good torch or head torches, a nice journal so they can write up where they have been, posh tea & coffee or a coffee machine, lightweight camping chairs with side tables, specific bedding for their model motor home, you can buy shaped sheets, duvets & duvet covers, you can order from Duvalay, they even do mattress toppers.

SUBisYodrethwhenLarping · 03/12/2022 23:53

Buy BRITSTOPS book - they have a Christmas offer at the moment that you pre order the 2023 version (gets posted out in spring) and you get the 2022 version for free

We have used them for 7 years and love them for touring around UK they also have an app to use alongside the books

Also, the other items we love inside are RIDGEMONKEYS we have both sorts and they are great (get them online from fishing shops rather than MH shops)

Microfibre towels are fabulous too

GO PRO camera system to film their travels from the front when the driver has to concentrate on the road and so misses the views

SUBisYodrethwhenLarping · 03/12/2022 23:55

Yes DUVALAY sleeping bags are amazing and come in different colours, sizes and thicknesses. You need to know the width of their bed

SUBisYodrethwhenLarping · 03/12/2022 23:58

Which model have they got then we might be able to give more suitable ideas?

Which type of beds do they have?

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 04/12/2022 00:29

Voucher /gift certificate for an exterior valet of the van - they are absolutely huge to clean!

christmasprep · 04/12/2022 10:56

This is really helpful thanks. The have a burstner if that helps. No idea on the model. 6 birth. They usually have white company sheets and towels so I suspect they already have some for inside the van.

They have camping chairs I suspect as they've had it years, although unsure what the quality would be like.

It's such a difficult one and as someone said, buying gifts for a hobby is tricky because they may well not have it because they don't need it / don't like it.

I don't even know it its a thing but ( check with local camping clubs ??) Could you pay for a full valet for the camper
Soft furnishings shampooed , hard surfaces cleaned , fridge , cupboards cleaned out , exterior cleaned etc .
I have a friend that has a huge MH ( Not in the UK) and he hates cleaning after his month long trips so pays for it to be done

ivykaty44 · 04/12/2022 11:16

Smaller gifts

book of Airs in France, these are locations you can stop for free in villages and towns - sometimes there is a small charge for electric

traveling mugs for in the cab on long journeys

a decent road map, sat nav is great until it stops working

pack of playing cards or small games for adults, group in Portugal used to get together to play tri dominos

Justhereforthechristmasthreads · 04/12/2022 12:01

I got the lego motorhome as a little jokey extra for someone with a motorhome

AnotherOne4 · 04/12/2022 13:09

Wellie boots 😂For when they go for those walks and come back muddy.

Boot scraper. This thread has made me realise we need one of these for the motorhome to stop traipsing mud in.

We have just had our MH glass coated protection to make the cleaning of it easier (just need a damp cloth and it comes out very shiny)
Forgotten the company name ATM but it is near Nottingham
It is an expensive option depending on the size but unless they love cleaning theirs it would be a fabulous idea
We also had our windows tinted by a company near Portsmouth, so we can see out but others can't see in
Totally love the result from both companies but they are expensive options

So am I right that they have been MH for some time and have just replaced their MH with a new one?

That does make a difference to the present ideas ==== new or experienced MH owners 🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂
