Need some gift ideas for SIL pls; mid forties, alternative lifestyler, v low carbon lifestyle, likes making homemade kombucha , believes in crystal healing, homeschooler. If this is your lifestyle, what are you hoping to get for Christmas :-) She's a lovely woman and I would really like to get her some surprise gifts she genuinely likes but her tastes are so completely different to mine it's hard for me to second guess what she would choose. Budget to, say £50ish?

Yes!

You can get huge boxes of incense from Amazon.

Independent sellers on Etsy do crystal selection boxes and things like that

Salt Lamp
Vegan cheese making kit (if she is vegan/vegetarian)
Kimchi "bucket" for making it, I got one last year and it was so worth it.

LimeCheesecake · 02/12/2022 10:28

I have someone like this in my life. Last year I got them turtle doves recycled cashmere things.

westthroughthewhitleywood · 02/12/2022 10:30

On my SS wishlist this year I have a mug with "witches brew" written across it (it looks like a cauldron too)
Sweary positive affirmation cards
An amethyst pendant
A book about astral projection
A nature almanac for 2023

Crystal bar soaps (soaps with crystals in they smell delicious)

Moranguinho · 02/12/2022 11:19

I would google local foraging/herbal making days and give it as a gift voucher, she will love that!

Giggorata · 02/12/2022 11:50

Some lovely ideas on here!
I would also suggest some hand knitted socks, gloves or hats, either from Etsy or local knitters.
Some gorgeous things are available made from recycled silk saris on various websites.

Tarot cards? Apparently you're not supposed to buy them for yourself.

I have that witches brew mug that was mentioned upthread. It is my favourite 😁

I really want a salt lamp this year. Also jewellery. I tend to gravitate towards crystals or moon/star designs in sterling silver.

If she likes reading what about a coffee table style book on crystals? I’ve seen a few that are beautifully illustrated.

I've got this book and it's really brilliant so if she likes making kombucha, definitely one to consider. (It's massive, don't know if that's a plus or a minus.)

snowspider · 02/12/2022 12:03

glass paints
seeds from The Real Seed Company
Lucy and Yak dungarees
trays from Emma Shipley (or anything else from there tbh )

I was also going to suggest a workshop such as foraging, felting a hat, bee keeping, unusual yoga like laughter yoga, fire spinning or circus skills. There's a sound bath session, I can't think of the proper name of but it's like meditation with gongs and tinkly bells.

Otherwise something eco and useful, like a mushroom growing ki. Although she might already have all that.

I like the idea of some sort of workshop in the local area.

If you want to go with healing crystals blue John fluorite is found only in the UK in Derbyshire and is a wisdom stone, positive personal growth, connected to the crown and third eye chakras. It’s also quite pretty though pricier than other fluorite’s.

Sound bath session
Reiki treatment
Yoga event

AuntLucy · 02/12/2022 14:24

Super choices, thank you. I have bought some Lucy and Yak dungarees, and a nature almanac. I'm sure she will love them x
