For various reasons (recently moved house, having work done on said new house) I haven't managed to sort a single Christmas present yet. I have two DDs, aged 5 and 2. Eldest has made some suggestions but nothing that would be a "main present".

We are travelling to grandparents for the week, so suggestions for good presents that travel well welcome! I'm feeling completely overwhelmed and flummoxed this year.

Duplo for the 2 year old, one of the more basic 4+ Lego sets for the 5 year old.

Scheich playset- there's a nice treehouse one.

Those magnetic colorful tile things you can build things with (Magnetix?).

Play kitchen bits and pieces (ikea is good if you have one close by).

Marble run set.

SingingWaffleDoggy · 02/12/2022 06:51

My 5 year old’s main present is the bluey house and family members have got play figures to go witb it. Others have got her playmobil or sylvanian families
I have an 18 month old who is getting a small rocking horse, busy/ skills board, mallet and peg game and trike

parrotonmyshoulder · 02/12/2022 06:57

My DD is selling all her fairy/ princess Playmobil for a fundraiser. Seriously, PM me. You could set it all up at grandparents.

parrotonmyshoulder · 02/12/2022 06:57

Sorry if I shouldn’t have posted that.

Si1ver · 02/12/2022 06:59

Tonie box. Perfect for in the car

LucySno · 02/12/2022 07:33

My 5yo has hardly asked for anything apart from a watch and a robot. Impossible to find a decent toy robot for less than £60+ !! I already have a thread about that.

She's getting:
A watch and whatever robot we can get
V tech camera
Small cuddly toys
Where's Wally book
Knitting set
Handmade toy rabbit with clothes (from someone who's v excited about it)

Stuck for what else! She has a dolls house furniture and dolls and lots of Sylvanians stuff that she ignores. She only really plays with paper, pens and pencils and scissors and she has tonnes of those.

Fivemoreminutes1 · 02/12/2022 07:52

When my dd was 5, she loved the Melissa and Doug ice cream stand and the Playmobil large city hospital. A Toniebox or Yoto would also make a good main present (and be a lot more travel-friendly!) Other ideas for main presents are a Tiny Treasures doll and Coding Critters
Other smaller hits were My Fairy Garden, an LCD writing tablet, pop beads, Polly pocket cases and a craft box.
For a 2yo, how about Aquadoodle or a pop up play tent?

Gunpowder · 02/12/2022 07:55

The Melissa and Doug ice cream set is a great shout (for either child) I’ve got boy/girl 5 year old twins and it’s been their most consistently played with toy for years.

wickerhearth · 02/12/2022 07:58

My First calendar for the older?
Lego duplo or bouncy animal for younger?

GrinAndVomit · 02/12/2022 11:03

My five year old daughter wants (and is getting) the Little Live Pets Guinea Pig Mama. It seems to be very popular for that age group and sex

Just looked this up. Out of stock everywhere! Looks like a lot of fun though.

FusionChefGeoff · 02/12/2022 12:33

Can I just point out there are still 22 days for Xmas don't panic!!

Mrsfussypants1 · 02/12/2022 12:54

As a pp has suggested mini yoto players and cards for both of them. Perfect for travelling and at home. 6yr old dgd uses hers everyday, book content goes from 0 -12 yrs, so has longevity.
Ikea mala travel art case for both and some paper, pens, pencils from ikea, again we'll used by dgd.

Mrsfussypants1 · 02/12/2022 12:56

Oh and kids headphones if you do go for yotos.

RedRobyn2021 · 02/12/2022 14:10

My almost 2 year olds main gift is a Little Dutch doll house, could be enjoyed by both children?

I saw someone suggested a tonie box, this or the yoto seem to be the most popular gift this year and it's suitable for both ages. Although I don't have one so can't personally recommend.

stridesy · 02/12/2022 14:20

My 5 year old has a two wheel scooter and an educational laptop as her main. She has some Lego, a cutie reveal barbie, colour reveal barbie and some sort of fairy that floats in the air. She also has a big Disney cabin bag and twister.
(her birthday is next week so some of it will go on that pile)

Lemonademoney · 02/12/2022 14:25

A tonie box is a lovely gift for either. We bought ours a couple of years ago for our then two year old and he still loves it now. There’s a Guinea pig toy (it has a hutch and has babies I think) that I keep seeing everywhere which would be good for a five year old

Lemonademoney · 02/12/2022 14:26

Sorry just seen the Guinea pig has already been mentioned

Favouritefruits · 02/12/2022 14:47

Playmobil is great my children both love it, there’s so many varieties you're sure to find something to suit. The family fun range for the 5yo and the 123aqua for the two year old. Would the 5yo like Aquabeads my son loved them at that age.

Stompythedinosaur · 02/12/2022 15:03

For 5yo

Lego (Disney maybe?)
Playmobil (camper van is a good stand alone set)
Two wheeled scooter (we had the micro scooter Sprite which has lasted well and folds up)
Melissa and Doug magic set
Slime making set

For 2yo

Duplo (my dc loved the creative cakes set)
Playmobil 123 (Noah's ark set is good)
Balance bike
Micro scooter
Playdoh set (the hairdressing set is good)
Schleich figures (animals, dinosaurs, fairies etc)
Doll and buggy

ITSSSSCHRISTMASSS · 02/12/2022 15:31

Could you get presents delivered straight to GPs? We did this as we were moving house so they took some deliveries for us and we collected after we moved. Once unboxed there is usually less to carry back.

DD 5 is getting
Barbie Malibu dreamhouse playset. It’s smaller than the actual house and can be folded away. She has other barbie playsets she loves.
Gabbys Dollshouse figure set ( she’s only just got into this and is loving it.) DH was in the states recently and brought her a Gabby doll back, she loves it.
Beanie Boos ( I think shes more into these because her older sisters are.
Barbie dollset
Polly pocket set
Encanto Lego
Mimi colouring & prnset
Paint by numbers canvases
Very sparkly Elsa nighty
LCD writing table.

For her recent 5th birthday she got the Barbie Skipper babysitting playset, barbies reveal doll. She also has several Chelsea playsets, the caravan & car, they are smaller than the barbie things. She also loves her Encanto playsets.

I know she’d love a squishy mellow too.

DD2 - bath toys, I’ve bought my 5yo a mermaid doll to go in the bath, would also be perfect for a 2yo
ice cream truck, my 5yo dd still loves hers she got for her 2nd birthday.
Baby dolls, I always start with Asda ones then if they continue to like dolls I buy the more expensive.
Dolls pram.

YukoandHiro · 02/12/2022 19:40

Thanks so much! So many good ideas. The 5yo has a Yoto and it's a real staple of bedtime and travelling so I'll definitely get a mini for the youngest

Main presents for my 2yo are a scooter and the Playmobil 123 house. She's also getting a wipe-clean apron for baking with me, a music box / trinket box (really just because it drives me nuts that her hair ties are currently stored in a takeout container!) and a wooden toaster/breakfast set to go with her toy kitchen
