Are you still buying online with all the postal strikes?

Just read on a spider group I'm in that Royal Mail next day guaranteed by 1pm is taking a week to arrive!

Based on that I'm worried about ordering things that are 'normal' delivery and them not making it?

I just put a few hundred quid in the bank today to order my eldest presents and am panicking now.

Are you ordering online still?

Yes, as a lot being sent directly to recipients from company I ordered from.

Figured it'd save them coming to me first, and then another period spent in the post to friends' addresses.
They won't be wrapped, though, which is a shame!

If they're late, so be it.

BakewellGin1 · 30/11/2022 19:59

Yes I am but not with anyone who uses Royal Mail.
I'm still awaiting a delivery from 18th November that I missed and rearranged however it never came. Tried visiting post office today however closed on steillrike till Saturday.
No more Royal Mail for me this year.

Tittyfilarious81 · 30/11/2022 20:02

Royal mail have had a parcel of mine at the sorting office near me for a week now and it's not moved 😑.

Whendovescry03 · 30/11/2022 20:14

Last week I ordered something on next day delivery and it took a week to arrive. I requested a delivery refund from the company I ordered it from in the end.

I'm hoping companies stop using royal mail and switch to a more reliable service. I've stopped shopping at anywhere that uses them for now.

Smartiepants79 · 30/11/2022 20:16

I ordered a lot of stuff over the weekend and it’s all here already.
Some of it Royal Mail.
Its still 3 weeks away. Order it in the next couple of days and you’ll probably have it all by next week!

drpet49 · 30/11/2022 20:19

I’m still ordering. I had a Royal Mail parcel delivered to me this morning even though they are meant to be on strike.

I won’t touch Evri with a barge pole- I’m still waiting for 2 parcels sent at the beginning of November that is still “in transit”

Squirrelgate · 30/11/2022 20:29

I've done all my shopping already due to fear of strikes!

MrsPicklesonSmythe · 30/11/2022 20:34

I'm waiting on loads of deliveries but we've got plenty of time sure it'll get here eventually. I can't support their right to strike then complain about it I suppose.

ITSSSSCHRISTMASSS · 30/11/2022 20:34

im done, but if I do need to order anything it will be through Amazon, as at least I know I will get it. I’m no longer using any company that uses Evri either.

Puddywoodycat · 30/11/2022 21:27

Oh dear, I didn't think about the back up delays..some items are with royals mail yes!

iRun2eatCake · 30/11/2022 21:32

So far for me Evri has been more reliable then Royal Mail!

Their tracking actually works for me whereas RM tracking hasn't worked for a couple of weeks.

Spoodee · 30/11/2022 21:41

I find Evri brilliant. On first name terms with our driver, he's lovely!

We bought a. couple of items from John Lewis and collected from Waitrose instead of using a company who uses Royal Mail.

But - most items will come. I may opt for next day delivery as they are priotised over. 2nd class or even 1st class if I can't get them locally.

My problem is that instead of ordering I would have to drive 45 minutes and still wouldn't be 100% sure the shops will stock what I want.

DogInATent · 30/11/2022 21:45

Yes, but only from suppliers that use couriers.

user1471453601 · 30/11/2022 21:49

Indeed I am. I'm disabled. So cannot get out to the shop s. My legs don't work anymore, but my brain does. I've ordered and received all my Xmas presents.

Me too. I’m very careful to ensure the vendor is not using Royal Mail. And I will continue to do so for some time to come. I’ve also discovered how easy it is to use other courier services. Whether I go back to using the Royal Mail remains to be seen.

OnTheRunWithMannyMontana · 30/11/2022 21:56

Yes but just nothing that uses Royal Mail.

Afolnerd · 30/11/2022 22:04

I’m waiting for several parcels from Royal Mail,

1 was sent next day 10 days ago and still no sign of it.
Also the live food for my ds’ lizards is nowhere to be seen. I doubt they will have survived this long in transit.
I won’t be using them again before Xmas.
We have no issues with Evri here.

Googlecanthelpme · 30/11/2022 22:06

Yes but then I always have either prime delivery or premium next day options.

Few options are either pay extra for next day, choose a non Royal Mail option, choose to have the gift delivered directly to the recipient, or buy on Amazon.

A few years ago I felt the same, then our regular driver left. Since then I get approx 20% of orders. In the last 3 months zero so I’ve given up.
