Meat delivery to abroad?

It’s a long shot, but has anyone ordered any meat based presents for people living over seas? My brother is in an EU country and I’d like to send him some pigs in blankets!

Don’t fancy your chances to be honest

There are usually lots of customs and import regulations that stop individuals sending meat based products abroad. Also, how will you ensure that the pork is kept in cold chain conditions throughout transit and delivery? Unless he lives in a country where pork is banned (in which case you shouldn't be considering it for lots of other reasons) can you not order them to be delivered to him from a local supermarket or shop?

Sprig1 · 29/11/2022 11:20

You will not be able to do this. See if you can find a supplier in his country who will deliver to him.

MrsFionaCharming · 29/11/2022 11:24

That’s a shame. He hasn’t managed to find them, or ‘British style’ sausages locally to make his own in previous years so thought it would make a great present.

I'm not sure you're allowed to send raw meat through the postal system - especially to other countries! Is he in a country where they're available at all?

Costacoffeeplease · 29/11/2022 11:27

No chance. No meat or meat products are allowed from the U.K. now

I lived abroad for many years and learnt to make my own sausages, Christmas pudding, mincemeat for mince pies, Christmas cake, haggis etc. That is part and parcel of living over seas. I'm now trying to work out how to make pâté that tastes like it does in France but that's another story!
Shipping meat abroad post Brexit is fraught with difficulties and delays. The chances of it even being possible let alone arriving before it goes off are remote! Don't do it.

your best bet is to find an expat store and order through them.

Smorgs · 29/11/2022 11:29

No way. I'm in France and no meat products get into the EU from UK now. Try British Corner Shop though, they have a depot in the UK so can get round the rules. Also there, are some Irish suppliers that can ship to the EU mainland.

How about this as a gift instead?

Depot in the EU that should be

As above. Just add spices to ground pork for sausage meat and use whatever ham the country has. It will taste fine

OhYouBadBadKitten · 23/12/2022 13:25

Brexit dividend.
