My Daughter has only got one toy on her Christmas list this year - a remote controlled plesiosaurus! I mean, of all the hundreds of dinosaur toys, she picks this 🤦‍♀️. I’ve tried suggesting giving Santa a few to choose from so she gets a surprise. Or getting excited about other dinosaur toys. No joy. Can anyone help me find this impossible Christmas gift? Please 🙏

Can't help with the remote control plesiosaurus - a quick google didn't turn up much BUT maybe you could buy her a non-remote control one and then take her to one of these attractions to see dinosaurs? 20 Outstanding Places to See Dinosaurs - They all sound great!

I like this plushy toy. Are you good with tech? Could you convert it into a remote control toy somehow? Grin Maybe?

SkylightSkylight · 28/11/2022 23:31

@Autumndays22

has she actually seen one, on an advert or anything, or is it a fantasy thing?

Amazon do a strike dinosaur plesiosaur which moves when the right bit is pressed. Not remote control exactly but it moves £35 ish. JURASSIC WORLD SAVAGE STRIKE Plesiosaurus amzn.eu/2vv9A6X

DC1 asked me once to bring a dinosaur back to life for his 5th birthday. He said he knew I could do it as I was magic.
his other passion at the time was polar bears. So I sponsored a polar bear through wwf instead and he received monthly letters off the polar bear for a few years. (The polar bears had a magic white board, which ‘translated’ all of their swipes into human language 😍)
ten years in we still sponsor the polar bear and receive updates from wwf, and he thinks none the less of me for not producing a dinosaur 🤣🤣🤣
perhaps Google with her so you can make sure you know santa can get what she wants , then suggest alternatives when it’s clear what she wants doesn’t exist???

Thanks everyone. I have been wondering if it’s possible to convert a regular toy into a remote controlled one but my tech ability is a big fat zero 😂. I like the days out idea and funnily enough a mosasaurus used to be her favourite dinosaur. She hasn’t seen this toy, it’s from her imagination - but she assures me that Santa can provide because he’s magic of course. Really appreciate your ideas everyone, thank you so much!

The wind up water toy looks like a good possibility, thank you. Sadly I can’t tell her that the elves can’t make tech as she got a remote controlled robot one year.

Could you get a stuffed one and a remote control car? You could cut it and place it over the top 🤔 This sounds better in my head! 😂

I've found mention of an rc Nessie that might of fit the bill, can't find it being sold still though. It might give you more search options? Seems to have been made by Takara Tomy.

these guys do a velociraptor if that helps.

Or could you combine one of the Lego sets with a boost (I think it's called)? I'm sure someone (DK?) did a book on how to build different Lego dinosaurs.

Little left of field, but the Play store has a Plesiosaur simulator, where it seems you can swim around as a dino character!

This sounds like a letter from Santa/the elves job - different (but cool!) plesiosaur gift and a wee note that creatively but humorously says ‘we made you this instead as we couldn’t get the parts’.

NoSquirrels · 29/11/2022 07:46

Not at all solving the remote control plesiosaur aspect but this nightlight is cool - I’d go with this and either the bath toy or the plushie (it’s so cute!) and a note from the North Pole

Nesse is believed to be a plesiosaure isn't he/she... so that could actually be it.

HesMyLobster · 29/11/2022 15:35

Might be way out of budget (and eye watering shipping too!) but here he is! . . .

HesMyLobster · 29/11/2022 15:47

This one is cheaper, but while it definitely seems to be elctronic/moving I can't figure out if it's actually remote controlled . .

Oh wow, you are incredible! You have found the impossible, amazing work! Thank you so much. You have all given me lots of options and choices, I’m so grateful for all you help. Not sure the budget will stretch to the actual remote controlled plesiosaurus, mind 😱. Thank you from the bottom of my heart everyone 😀

That one doesn’t have a remote if you read the description (it’s missing!!) so wouldn’t go for that and it’s hideously expensive!!
