Kirstie Allsopp's Handmade Christmas advocaat recipe?

I'd be very grateful if anyone can remember the recipe for the easy advocaat that featured on Kirstie's Handmade Christmas a few years ago - it's no longer available online. It was made with eggs, condensed milk, vanilla and vodka but I can't remember the amounts - thank you. My Christmas will be much less merry without it!

I've got the handmade Christmas book I'll have a look when I get home and see if it's in there Smile

MercyChant66 · 28/11/2022 13:57

Oh, that would be fantastic, Snoooozze - thank you!

No luck in the book sorry!

I did find this on Pinterest though!

Aw, the kindness of Mumsnetters! Thanks so much for trying and for the link - I've already seen it and sadly, it doesn't give the actual recipe...

I may just wing it - I mean, you can't really go wrong with vodka and condensed milk, can you! 😀Thanks again, Snoooozzze.

Lots of recipes online for Eierlikör. From what you describe, I think this one may share a common origin with Kirstie's -

Many thanks, DoginaTent - that does look like the same sort of mixture. It was a very basic/cheat version that was still delicious. I'll try this - thanks!

@MercyChant66 do you know what series it was in? There are episodes on YouTube that you could rewatch.

MercyChant66 · 28/11/2022 22:45

Thanks, WoollybacksWife - I have tried this too but not found the right episode - (I'm starting to sound a little desperate for my festive tipple)! Thank you.

@MercyChant66 the episodes are on prime apparently and all4 but I'm not sure what series the recipe appears in

I definitely don't think you can go far wrong lol if all else fails Asda sell snowballs which aren't bad 😂

MercyChant66 · 28/11/2022 23:21

Ooh - off to have a look now! Thank you so much - and for the Asda tip!

easy looking recipe here with comment to cut down sugar a bit?

HannahDefoesTrenchcoat · 28/11/2022 23:35

I think it might be Kirstie’s Handmade Christmas 2014?

HannahDefoesTrenchcoat · 28/11/2022 23:42

Sorry not what I thought. It was Jenny Eclair watching in 2014
”programme finally ended with me necking an Advocaat nightcap while Kirstie watched the Norwegian Christmas tree lighting up in Trafalgar Square.”

MercyChant66 · 29/11/2022 00:36

Thanks for recipe Hannah - I'm saving that one too!

Quick update - I found the recipe on the Intro episode to the 2018 series! I shall be making it soon and raising a glass to all you helpful Mumsnetters! Merry Christmas and thank you!

And you don't post it on here.....

You know you will never lose it again if you post on here

MercyChant66 · 03/12/2022 20:56

Great idea Myyear!

Whisk together:
6 egg yolks
Teaspoon of vanilla essence
Tin of condensed milk

Then add vodka (no amount specified in the TV programme so taste it as you slug it in). Keep chilled in fridge for around 2 weeks. Lovely on its own straight from fridge or mixed into a snowball.
Cheers!
