Hello! I'm struggling to decide which bean to cup coffee machine to order and wondered if anyone could help. I have been looking at Sage or Delonghi. Budget around £500. I feel completely overwhelmed by the options and wondering if I should hold out for the Black Friday deals. Many thanks!

We love our Sage.machine. its 4 year old and still going strong

Merrow · 24/11/2022 12:37

I looked into this last year and went for a Melitta. Their black Friday deals are already on. I think Sage can do a very good cup of coffee, but seemed more trial and error involved to get there. The Melitta one is very easy to to clean, which is another factor I'd bear in mind!

We also have a sage and it’s great. I prefer it to coffee shops- but that could be the beans! It was more than £500 but we did get it on Black Friday (John Lewis) and it was a few hundred cheaper. Enjoy your coffee!

Prettypennies · 24/11/2022 13:07

@Compassionreality which beans do you use?

Elsiebear90 · 24/11/2022 13:11

I have a Delonghi Magnifica it’s great, really easy to use once you get used to it.

AlexandraJJ · 24/11/2022 13:13

If you can get a discounted Jura for that price I’d recommend. I get my beans wholesale and buy 12kgs at a time and try all different ones.

More brands to consider! Thank you so much for the recommendations. I'll look into these too.

@Prettypennies we use coffeebeanshop.co.uk
They have lots of variety and often do discounts so I buy in bulk then!

Prettypennies · 24/11/2022 18:03

@Compassionreality thank you! I want to gift and coffee machine and some decent beans to go with them :)

Me too, we love it and it’s lasted well

Thank you! I'll see if I can find any good deals on Sage and Delonghi machines. I quite like the Delonghi ones with the milk jug. Seems they might be simpler than using a frothing wand.

I've ordered an entry level Sage machine. It was less than £500 on Amazon so I thought I'd plump for it, as they seem to be well regarded. Can I be cheeky and ask for coffee bean recommendations next, please?!

I've previously bought Has bean tasting packs as a gift and it seemed to go down well! Means there's some different styles to try so they can decide what utterly random descriptions they resonate with (personally I don't think I've ever tasted coffee and thought "plum jam"...)

SleepingisanArt · 25/11/2022 11:51

We've had a delonghi (hated it as it broke very frequently) and are now on our second Jura (first one lasted 18 years). They are automatic so froth the milk without you having to worry about it! Friend has a sage which she loves...

ivykaty44 · 25/11/2022 11:59

We have this one and love it.

ive got the delongi as linked to above BUT I got it from Amazon warehouse for £150, the warehouse stuff has already been sent out so not strictly new

mine has two scuffs on the side of the machine but because it’s up against the wall no one can see

it was certainly worth it to save on full price and I like the machine, easy to use for beans or ground coffee

jyst checked and they have them in warehouse for £202

Me too, I bought it from the Delonghi outlet one bay for £180 nearly four years ago. It was a return - like new, selling for about £600 at the time.

Try here OP, absolute bargains.

I've had the Magnifica since 2018 and it's still going strong - easy to use and clean and makes a lovely coffee

TeaCosyApplePie · 25/11/2022 12:23

We have a melitta cafeo solo- it's amazing! Much cheaper than some of the fancier bean to cup machines, but does the job perfectly.

Perfectlystill · 25/11/2022 23:15

Our first Delonghi Magnifica lasted 11 years of everyday constant use. It finally died a month ago so we bought the same again. Fabulous machine.

As for beans, I like Dark Woods Coffee. I buy a kilo or two of beans at a time (no more as I like freshly toasted) and they send them to you free in double quick time. I recommend their Common Grounds beans.

Have bought DH a DELONGHI Magnifica Evo ECAM290.61.SB after a lot of deliberation as there's so much out there! Seemed to have a lot of good reviews.

ClosedAuraOpenMind · 26/11/2022 10:16

for coffee DH loves Pure Roasters, who are a Glasgow based company. Bolt is his favourite, but they're v keen on ensuring all their coffee is ethically sourced

Don’t get a Gaggia Brera.
It will make your breakfast times miserable with its constant demands for attention.
