Any ideas? I have to keep within a £10 budget. Haven't got a clue what she likes.

Nice diary or notebook - Wrendale designs do some lovely ones.
Mug with fancy teabags or coffee and biscuits
Bamboo socks
Personalised pen
Pot plant
Phone case & screen protector
Hat & gloves set

One or two really nice Christmas tree decorations
A big piece of local cheese or some locally made sweets or chocolate
A plant in a nice pot
A mini Mac lipstick in 'her' colour

Oliver Bonas do lovely tiny picture frames - a couple of those would be nice.

If you don’t know any of her ‘likes’, I’d go for a ‘posh’ version of an every day item. Hand soap or the like. Or a pot plant as has already been mentioned.

You know the more I read these thread the more I think 'why dont you just talk to her? or even people who know her and find out a bit about what she likes?' you could even garner some insite through quick 10 second convosations or sometimes even just observation of them.

Like I have never really spoken to most of the mams at my DS school but I know the 5 that show up the same time as mes dress style from seeing them at pick up everyday, I think enough to buy something in the ball park of what they already like/wear.

The one year I really didn't know some one it was because they had signed on to join our group but wasnt relocating until January so NO ONE had met them but they signed up to do the secret santa... it was awkward, I got him a personalised pen because all I knew was his name and his job included having to jot down measurements on the go but I assume most peoples secret santas actually already work there and I just got unlucky that year.

Otherwise these lists are just generic things that most people might not like but might not be offended by.

Lush gift box. My go to suggestion!
Bottle of wine.
Box of chocolates.
Mug with tea bags/coffee.
Something generic will be fine!

Only time I have been "upset/annoyed" at a Secret Santa was when one of the cleaners bought one of the professional staff three tubes of Pringles. The woman went on and on about what a crap gift it was and, eventually, persuaded someone else to swap with her. I was really embarrassed for the poor lady who had bought them, and had heard everything.

We do secret Santa at our work, but have to put 3 things down on a list that we would like , works well for us all as we have a couple blokes in the school.
Lots of us ask for lottery tickets/ scratch cards - last year someone won £120 on it .

It works well at our school.

An amaryllis and something else.

BeaLola · 22/11/2022 19:48

I would try and find out /observe her/chat to her about stuff if possible and hope I could glean ideas that way (or ask someone who knows her)

Potted hyacinths or amaryllis or rose to plant in garden

Magazine subscription-certain ones let you do 3 or 6 months for £9:99 -just remember to cancel it

Book
Teddy Blear fleece blanket from Dunelm or similar

I thought this was a good Secret Santa gift for someone who likes baking. Vanilla pod powder in a pretty tin.
