Christmas vs birthdays

As per the title. How do Christmas gifts differ from birthday gifts for you all? My mum always got us lots for Xmas, but then 1 birthday present - not a big thing either.

My kids birthdays are both January, and dp is between Xmas and New year, so I generally just shop from autumn onwards when I see good deals, and divide up along the way. I read lots of Xmas threads, but no one discusses birthday gifts it seems, so I don't know if I'm being weird or unbalanced!

I’m not sure I quite follow your OP, I have seen threads before asking for birthday suggestions. The problem is these appear sporadically through the year and not always at a time it’s relevant for your particular family. With Christmas we all celebrate at the same time, so it appears to be more collected?
I hear you on birthdays this time of year though, in my household we have one in October, two in November and one in December. It’s so difficult because most shops have removed everything sold for birthdays. Every shop I search for only sells rolls of Xmas wrapping paper this time of year. When I ask for birthday stuff they point to 3 things (usually behind a counter where no one can go/reach) and say “No birthday rolls specifically, but you can use some nice silver stuff with stars?” Um, the stars are actually snowflakes and it’s clearly Xmas wrapping paper. 🙄🙄
