I can't deal with the stress of monopoly this year.

Any ideas of fun games? Maybe challenge type ones?

All teens

Code names and spyfall have been some of our family favourites.

MakeWayMoana · 21/11/2022 12:09

We’ve got the taskmaster board game for Christmas - haven’t played it yet but the reviews are good.

Baboutheocelot · 21/11/2022 12:10

Also, if you have an iPad then keep talking and nobody explodes is another good one.

WeepingSomnambulist · 21/11/2022 12:14

Are you saying no board games because you dont have experience of any board games outside of monopoly/cluedo/risk etc? Or another reason.

I collect board games. We love them. There are thousands. We keep about 100 in a permanent collection and trade out other ones we dont play.

You should really give board games a try!

Some good ones are Yamatai, Above and Below, Clank!, El Dorado (a real family favourite in out house), here and tortoise, Robinson crusoe, pandemic.

If you want things a bit more away from board games then Throw Throw Burrito is amazing. It's a dodgeball card game and it so much fun.
Goat Lords is another card game we love, quick to learn but doesnt get boring.

The Crew is another card game. Its progressive play through different missions.

Puffball is great entertainment. My dad doesnt play games but he was right in there with that one. It's fun.

Neighbours87 · 21/11/2022 12:17

Monikers is amazing

MakeWayMoana · 21/11/2022 12:17

Oh and pass the bomb is good, we like that one. You have to think of a word with certain letters in, while passing the bomb round. When the bomb explodes you’re out - it can be tailored for younger ones to join in too, my 6 year old plays but instead of thinking of a word including all the letters he just has to think of a word with one of the letters in.

We’ve also got some random Christmas games which are quite funny. Stuff the Turkey where you use a party blower thing to blow a sprout up a turkey’s bum, and pin the nose on the snowman.

Scattegories is another favourite which comes out year after year, everyone from my 11 year old up plays it. It’s good for adults only for when you’ve had a few drinks and the x-rated answers come out 🙈

Trivial pursuit for a more serious monopoly type game. We’ve got the original and a family version.

Beat the Parents is fun too.

I love playing games, my favourite part of Christmas 🎅

Throw Throw Burrito

CousinKrispy · 21/11/2022 14:11

Throw Throw Burrito definitely fun.

We love Mexican Train Dominoes, it sounds a bit dull but half the fun is players complaining at each other when they've been blocked by someone else.

ChristmasMonkey · 21/11/2022 18:20

I kept looking at throw throw burrito but have a tiny front room so I don't think we could do it

We've recently brought Micro macro which is a detective game where you work together to solve silly crimes which would probably be right up your teens street.

WeWereInParis · 21/11/2022 18:26

Beat That is a lot of fun. It comes up cups, ping pong balls, dice, counters, chopsticks and a measuring tape and there are lots of challenges on cards eg balance the dice on the chopstick and walk 2m, throw the ball over your head and catch it in the cup 5 times etc. And you place bets on whether you can do it or not and win counters if you do.

Puddywoodycat · 21/11/2022 18:31

Accentuate sounds fun. People have to talk in silly accents.

PortalooSunset · 21/11/2022 19:56

Jackbox is a fave here. It's on the xbox (can also be on pc/PlayStation etc) and you all use devices to join in. There's loads of different activities. Can take a few minutes or a few hours.

SusiePevensie · 21/11/2022 19:57

Three words: cooperative board games. Amazing stuff. Try pandemic, or Hogwarts battle.

SusiePevensie · 21/11/2022 19:58

The Crew is brilliant too

WeepingSomnambulist · 22/11/2022 09:28

Robinson Crusoe is one of the nest cooperative board games there is!

BlueChampagne · 22/11/2022 12:34

Telestrations
Fluxx (Pirate Fluxx is probably our favourite)
Prediction Whist
Mad-Libs

maslinpan · 22/11/2022 12:46

Happy Salmon

Toppl · 22/11/2022 13:53

We love Telestrations as it’s good and silly

Minute To Win It is a good game, jenga with consequences, charades, name that tune and if you prefer outdoor games you can get some ideas here https://www.campuscolors.com/blogs/campuscorner/best-backyard-sport-court-ideas-for-endless-family-fun

Figgypudding123 · 18/12/2022 12:41
