New traditions to make Christmas memorable for teenagers

DDs (13 and 16) have outgrown the traditions they enjoyed as children - shelf elf (thank God!), visits to Santa, Christmas Eve traditions, various books/films etc...

Was wondering if anyone has any suggestions to make teenage Christmas memorable?

Film recommendations, advent calendars, games etc. They love Cards Against Humanity but not in front of the grandparents Grin

What new traditions do/did your teenage DCs enjoy?

Shameless bookmarking for ideas. My dc are just on the turn and I’m trying to think of new things to hold their interest

We go to a town which is only about 7 miles away but which we rarely go to as it's in the wrong direction for everything else we do so never go through or past it on the way to work/school/kids' activities etc so it always feels a bit special anyway. They have a great Thai restaurant and a crazy golf place which is open until it gets dark on Xmas Eve. Lunch at the restaurant, crazy golf, a walk around the town looking at lights. Apparently, a new ice cream place has opened up so I'm hoping we can call in there too. Basically, something completely different and which the kids love which sets us up for the next 72 hours when we have a houseful of older guests.

Ours are 14 and 19.
They do the parents stocking and we do theirs.

Mine is almost 22 and as she hit this stage she enjoyed:

Retro board games - game of life in particular went down very well. I also always put a new pack of cards and set of dominos in her stocking

Xmas films more of 15 cert type - love actually, did hard, gremlins, trading places, scrooged, bad moms Christmas, four christmases, deck the halls, family stone, you get the idea

Takeaway Xmas eve - saved me cooking!

Gah posted too soon!

As she got of an age baileys hot choc was added

Still do new pjs on Xmas eve as she refuses to buy bloody warm ones herself! (Standing joke kinda) also bed socks, dressing gown and slippers maybe hot water bottle.

Play cheesy Christmas music and sing/dance along to it

She does still insist on getting an advent calendar and selection bic and a satsuma in her stocking

Midnight mass if neither of us is working.

Most of our traditions are more Christmas Eve related.

We decorate the tree whilst eating chocolates with a film on. I bake liebkuchen tree biscuits. We have an evening meal (sometimes by candlelight) then have hot chocolate, a tree biscuit and Christmas stories (still children’s ones) in front of the fire (or wood stove now).

Christmas Day itself depends on how it evolves. Sometimes play a game or watch a film but they tend to meet up with friends these days.
