12 year old girl - what are you getting them?

I can think of thousands of small gifts but nothing really as a main gift and she doesn't know herself. She doesn't need any technology.

I'll get her some clothes but that's all I can think of really and it's a bit boring.

She's into dancing, animals etc. Considered a zookeeper experience but not sure she'd enjoy it on her own iyswim?

She did ask for a dressing table but where she wants it to go it won't fit so she's changed her mind 🙄🙄.

Any inspiration?

Tough age isn't it! Mine is getting:
Mini fridge and some mini cans of lemonade to go in it.
North Face sliders
Nike tracksuit
Ear cuff as she's obsessed with piercing her helix but I won't let her.
Fluffy shopper style bag from Primark
Art supplies
Pandora ring - gift from her Granny
Juicy Couture top - gift from her Aunty
Some nice shampoo & conditioner
Teddy fluffy blanket for her bedroom
Costa water bottle

Money from her Dad and other Granny as DD is saving for school trip to Barcelona.

JourneyToThePlacentaOfTheEarth · 19/11/2022 03:19

Great ideas above. My dd will soon be 12. She's getting a new phone, possibly airpods, trainers, air up bottle and a tracksuit

JourneyToThePlacentaOfTheEarth · 19/11/2022 03:23

Also something from Pandora and something from lululemon

Magicshoppingtrolley · 19/11/2022 03:30

I think this is the hardest age. So far I have:

air pods (Aldi)
arianne grande perfume set
books
next oodie
smellies
make up

ShowOfHands · 19/11/2022 03:48

She's into dancing, animals etc

That etc is a bit confusing! What does etc mean in this instance? Can you tell us a bit more about her likes and dislikes as dancing and animals doesn't tell me what else she likes.

When DD was 12, she liked animals and dancing but also liked, for example, feminism, manga, Buddy Holly, Greek Mythology, dystopian literature, Skulduggery Pleasant, acrylic and charcoal art, Dungeons and Dragons, local history. Her friend also liked animals and dancing but none of the above and preferred make-up, perfume, a couple of specific bands, chick lit, Japanese confectionery and plushies.

Does she like certain bands, shows, books? A lot of adolescents I know like merch for Christmas. Does she like smellies or make up or a certain fashion? Interested in a certain hobby? Keen to try roller skating or skate boarding? Does any sport? Likes trainers or shoes? An experience or theatre tickets? Or a day out to a certain place?

Stokey · 19/11/2022 11:16

I just got my DD1 who turned 13 a console table for her birthday. It was much narrower than a dressing table but it's great for putting stuff on. She's using it for small plants, candle, make-up and jewellery.
She also got a fidget ring, some decorations for her room - fairy lights, photo board, throw - and some nicer clothes than I would normally buy, Hollister rather than H&M.

She's asked for a Papershoot camera for Christmas. They are a tricky age though.

ichundich · 19/11/2022 11:27

For mine im thinking of these:
Bits for her room - cushions, throw, clock
A Spotify subscription

Following!

I have an 11 year old girl who since starting year 7 in September has grown up so much almost over night and h have no idea what to get her, everything she’s asked for is so small and practical that I feel like she’ll be disappointed Xmas morning

So far she has:
hairdryer, curler & straightener
matching hairbrush set
im making her a pamper hamper type gift to put all the bits and bobs she’s asked for in
heartstopper books
oodie (primark one)

Nothing very wow really!

Worriedmum42 · 19/11/2022 12:01

We have done lots of zookeeper type things. The one in London Zoo is great and an adult stays with the group so she wouldn't be on her own.

Worriedmum42 · 19/11/2022 12:02

If she likes animals and you are close to a zoo what about annual pass and adopt an animal?

Worriedmum42 · 19/11/2022 12:08

Colchester do a feed elephant/giraffe experience which is not very expensive compared to lots of places and I always fancied tickle a tapir at Paradise Wildlife Park

Shannith · 19/11/2022 12:08

Echo dot
Led lights
Fancy Starbucks cup
Lush bath bombs

Still thinking (she is)

NotEvenSlightlyReasonable · 19/11/2022 12:20

DD12 wants books. And more books. And more books. We tend not to give her a main present unless there's something big she wants, so she'll get books, art materials (she likes drawing), socks, chocolate, we've framed a picture that she bought for herself, thinking of a cute keyring and her own front door key... she always wants money to buy her own clothes, which she mostly gets off Vinted or second hand shops so you can't buy them for her, except for very expensive dance leggings. And for yet another year she's been told she'll have to study hard, get a very good job and buy herself the Gucci handbag she wants 😀

orbitalcrisis · 19/11/2022 12:40

My daughter is older but new phone contract and a merlin pass.

orbitalcrisis · 19/11/2022 12:45

There's a sale on for merlin passes. www.merlinannualpass.co.uk/buy-passes/

lifeturnsonadime · 19/11/2022 12:48

My daughter is having the Daily Bugle Lego Set and some new cricket pads.

Iwasjustasking · 19/11/2022 14:07

My 12 year old has got:

iPhone ear pods
posca pens and sketch pad
pandora ring
squishmellow
hamper with primark things like hairbrushes, face masks etc
starbucks cup and voucher
silk pyjamas
Hair curler
bullet journal
Guinness world records
Her nan and grandad have got her some Nike Air Force ones and her auntie is getting her some Nike pro leggings.

chillimice · 19/11/2022 16:38

Big presents are tough - I can also think of thousands of little presents.. we have gone with a real oodie for a main present.

She would also have liked a fancy oil diffuser or roller skates or a lovely teddy/fluffy duvet set or a girly weekend away in an air bnb. We did her room up last year with a really nice desk and fairy lights and that went down well.

Dinoteeth · 19/11/2022 17:01

Mines a boy turns 12 just after Christmas but big things for this year are bike and a new phone.

ScoobyDoNot · 19/11/2022 17:25

Tickets to a London show?
Nice watch/jewellery?

My daughter is a little older & has all the tech she needs so she's getting some
Dr martens
Heathers tix
Vans
Perfume
And a few other little things to unwrap.

TheStormDragon · 19/11/2022 17:36

Mine, turning 12 just after Christmas, is getting an electric diffuser and some oils to go with it. A Squishmallow, an anime t-shirt and a Switch game. I've got some kawaii type stationery for in her stocking.

She's not into fashion or make up but she loves Japanese stuff. And she asked for the diffuser so she can have a nice smelling room. She wants one with colour changing lights so I'm trying to find a good one.

thaegumathteth · 19/11/2022 23:21

@orbitalcrisis she'd love a merlin pass but we are 100s of miles away from anywhere to use it! Good pressie though!

@ShowOfHands I meant to edit the Etc but then forgot. Other interests - tiktok, Harry styles , doing stuff with friends.

Unfortunately she hates reading @NotEvenSlightlyReasonable (is dyslexic but not sure if she's just not a reader like her dad):

@Worriedmum42 she'd love both those things but it's about 500 miles from us.

@Stokey I might look at console tables - thank you!

Oh! She likes baking and cooking too. Just remembered!

Lots of good ideas everyone and sorry for the slow reply!

Ear cuff is a fab idea as she wants a second ear piercing and I've said no! @HollyBollyBooBoo

She's getting a Pandora bracelet from my mum and jewellery from my sister. She already has cheap iPads and she has a contact phone that's not up for renewal yet.

thaegumathteth · 19/11/2022 23:22
