Mario Kart, Luigi’s Mansion, Yoshi’s Crafted World and Captain Toad.

Some of the lego games are good - lego worlds, star wars, Jurassic world. Mario 3d worlds - some of the levels are hard, but there are mini games. Haven't played animal crossings but it is always recommended. Mario kart.

Animal crossing if they are able to read or Pokémon. Minecraft is also good

PixiesFeet · 18/11/2022 18:12

Luigis Mansion, Minecraft and my DS who is 7 loves overcooked also.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land
Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze
New Super Mario Bros U
Mario Party
Mario Kart
Luigis Mansion
Lego games
Crash Bandicoot
Spyro

I think Animal Crossing and Pokemon are a little too much reading for a 6 year old, I would say 8+ for those.

Also, when you get the console, it's £35 a year for a Nintendo Online membership which gives you access to a huge back catalogue of Nintendo games, all the old Mario games are on there and so much more.

If you get this, I highly recommend Mario 64 (N64), Donkey Kong Country (N64), Banjo Kazooie (N64) Yoshi's Story (N64) and Super Mario 2: Yoshi's Island (SNES).

It gives you so many games for your money and they can be just as good as the new games coming out, especially for a 6 yr old.

Another vote for Kirby and The Forgotten Land - my 6 year old played this one all the way through!

Pokemon Snap was a lovely game - taking pictures of Pokémon as you tour their lands

Minecraft is a firm favourite too - you can set it in different modes so there is one without enemies & just fun to build and create!

Yep my almost 6 year old loves all of those, especially Mario Party, Luigi’s Mansion, Mario Vs Rabbid Rabbits and Pokemon. But he does enlist his older brother for the reading for Pokemon.

He also really likes the Lego games.

@tartancushions ahh thanks for that, I never knew! Will definitely consider this.

Thanks everyone. I was looking at animal crossing as I might like that too Grin but I might hold off until reading improves!

MarioKart
Pokemon
Animal Crossing

DS started playing Animal Crossing before he could read. It really helped him and he was able to play with out being able to read. He just needed a little help setting up the game.

Mario kart
overcooked
super Mario bros U deluxe

Mario superstar
pikmin
both my boys love monopoly on the switch

Oh you should definitely get Animal Crossing for yourself :)

To be honest though, I think it's a bit of an acquired taste with kids. It's a quirky game and there is lot of reading and lots of repetitive activity - fishing, digging, etc.

Personally I adore it. But I know lots of parents who have got it for their kids between 5-10 years old and whilst some love it, some just don't 'get' it. I actually think it's a safer bet as a relaxing, mindful game for teenagers and adults!

So yeah - get it for you to play when your child's gone to bed! :) They might take an interest or they might not, but I bet you will love it!
