Does the Sainsbury's Christmas Advert leave a bad taste?

Just saw this advert, is it me, or isn't it justifying bullying in the workplace? the poor cook looks bloody terrified, and I am sure there are quite a lot of people at this time of year having to bend over backwards to keep people happy, to whom it possibly does not resonate with in a positive manner.

Good grief

It has the structure of a fairytale. I don't think anyone uses fairytales as a successful excuse for bad (workplace) behaviour.

ButtonSister · 17/11/2022 14:02

I agree with you OP.

peachescariad · 17/11/2022 14:21

Agree it's a shit advert....but tbh they all are this year...

Asda one is just a load of miserable, bored and nonchalant looking staff (bar Elf who is the only good thing about the advert).
Aldi carrot thing just goes on and on and on
I do like the JL one though.

frenchnoodle · 17/11/2022 14:32

To be fair on the actors in the Asda one they had to act against nothing, Elf is rotoscoped in from the movie.

They are all pretty terrible this year.

Wasn't a fan, and completely a case of not reading the room. Who is doing this extravagant dining and demanding the finest? Most of us are struggling, and would be grateful just ro be eating a hot meal with loved ones. John lewis did it best I think.

carefulcalculator · 17/11/2022 14:37

It is a fairytale, a pantomime baddie.

ButtonSister · 17/11/2022 15:18

In fairy tales and pantomimes good eventually prevails but in the Sainsbury ad the baddie princess is rewarded for her hissy fit - not in the Christmas spirit.

WeWereInParis · 17/11/2022 15:22

I think it's a bad advert but I think it's a stretch to say it justifies bullying in the workplace. It's more justifying being a whiny fusspot demanding something else.

whatwasthiscritter · 17/11/2022 15:51

I just sat and watched them all, I avoid adverts usually. I like the John Lewis one

Tulipvase · 17/11/2022 19:15

It’s a terrible advert.

I like the Waitrose and JL adverts.
