Where can I find a sock shaped stocking (not sack) that is sack sized?!

We’ve always had huge sacks of presents and I carried this on when DD was born. But now I want to humble us down a bit.. they’ll get one main present and a few other gifts.. not enough to fill a big sack.. but I’d like to get them a stocking that I can fill and hang up. But everything I can find are meant for small stocking fillers (activity books, chocolate and small toy sized stockings)

where are they bigger ones?!

What are your sewing skills like? There are lots of tutorials on YouTube, most of them smaller than you want but it would be easy to scale up.

I saw some massive ones in Lidl and Aldi the other day

You can buy fabric panels on eBay. All you need is lining and some thin wadding.

Surely proper tradition is a pillow case at the end of the bed?

That's what we had - it had presents from Father Christmas and our parents. Presents from anyone else went under the tree.

How is that tradition? just because you did it doesnt mean it the original or even most common way.

Tradition (as in where it started) was womens stockings hung on the washing line. This morphed to real socks hung by the fire and then the decorative 'xmas stockings' we have now... nowhere in tradition is a pillowcase anything to do with the legend of St. Nick, if anything it was the early homemade predecessor of the sack which is a different thing all together.

Whatever you choose, don't forget to get 2 of each so you can do a quick swap Xmas eve instead of trying not to wake them up while you squish it all in!

Thanks all! Going to take a look at these links today.. failing that I’m just going back to a sack 😂

R.E the pillow case tradition. Never heard of that in my life, but I have had the same sack all through my childhood so that’s our tradition 🙈
