We are stick for ideas for our beloved godfather. He has a greenhouse and grows his own veg and spends hours in there. Budget of about £20.

A fig tree or other fruit tree to grow against a wall?

A compost bin

A garden incinerator

As a gardener I go out to be in nature. I would hate a radio.

Decent gloves, quality secateurs, twine dispenser, gardeners leather tool belt so I don’t have to keep traipsing back & forth to the blooming shed are all on my wish list.

How about a selection of unusual veg seeds? I’m aiming to grow my own loofah’s next year but obviously that’s a bathroom thing not a veg box thing.

My suggestions would be a compost scoop, a dibber, new gardening gloves and wooden craft ice cream sticks for environmentally labelling seedling. I also bought myself a mushroom log kit this year which might be fun.

A vegetable cook book?

I was thinking from a pottering in the greenhouse aspect. Gardeners question time job. Rather then blaring it whilst digging

Agree with above - good gloves, secateurs or trowel. Also nice labels, either ones you can re-use that are pre-labelled, but probably ones they can write on themselves more useful. Probably not seeds - I think choosing what you grow is fairly personal. And love the mushroom log idea - I got something similar for my dad last Xmas, and he was delighted with the mushrooms produced.

My dad follows the no dig system so I've bought him a Charles dowding cook book! It's a signed copy. I saw other books on his site too but they were more expensive.
