Is there anything out there similar?

I'm absolutely not against buying them for my son, however there's a lot of them at his grandparents so don't want to buy again.

He likes the little cases and bits and bobs inside. So something similar would be ideal.

Any suggestions welcome. So stuck as what to buy him.

There used to be Mighty Max which was similar but nothing recent I don’t think, which is a shame as my Ds would love something like this too but he’s put off by all the glitter and pink! (Yes I know he could have it anyway but he doesn’t want it)!

Or if he likes bits and bobs then playmobil is great, it's just not tiny like polly pocket.

Although some dc don't know what Minecraft is I saw this and thought my ds age 4 would like it. It is similar to polly pocket with the mini figure.

Lego Friends play cubes?

Ha, I came on here to suggest Lego Friends play cubes! They're brilliant - if you can find a used one on ebay you'll get a bargain but new ones can be lots more than original price, depending on design. They shut nicely and are self contained. I think the most recent ones are 'pet' play cubes, not as nice IMO as the original range with recording studio, bakery, vets etc.

DS is very autistic and I'm not entirely sure gets the whole 'small world' play thing but does like these - I suspect it's a matter of the boxiness, the open-and-shut of them, and the little details and tiny cupboards etc. He's certainly not bothered about any role playing with the figures though!

The other thing I'd suggest is Playmobil playsets which also shut up nicely. We have the prison one which packs away very satisfactorily. They're not as dinky as Polly Pockets or Lego friends play cubes but still fill that 'dinky playset' brief. I got ours in Aldi a few years ago and it was a bargain - I see Amazon now selling for stupid prices but you might find a bargain elsewhere. And do check Aldi/Lidl, who very often have these sorts of Playmobil and Lego playsets at excellent prices at this time of year.

There was a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles range a few years ago called Micro Mutants, which was exactly like Polly Pocket. Sadly they don’t appear to retail anymore, but I’ve seen some on eBay.
